    1. [VALOUISA-L] Matthew Thompson-b ca 1750 Va-prob Louisa
    2. I am still searching for a Matthew Thom(p)son b ca 1750 who may have been the son of a John Thom(p)son, who in 1770 acted as executor for the estate of Mary CHILES howle in Caroline Co., Va. He is known to have married in about 1773 to Sarah Wyatt( b ca 1753) , the d/o of Richard Wyatt and his second wife Amy Chiles. Shortly after their marriage they removed from Caroline Co to Louisa Co, Va wheere in 1775 the names of Matthew Thompson appears on the list of Trinity Parish titheables. In Oct 1778 Matthew Thompson of Caroline Co purcases land from Wm and Mary Wright, bounded by the lines of Wm. Cole, James Gooch, John Bibb, and Thom. McCallester of Louisa Co to Matthew thompson of trinity Parish, Louisa Co., Va. The land was on Christopher's Run and was part of a parcel of land originally patented by George Thom(p)asson. Matthew died intestate in 1785 and his estate remained unappraised until 26 Jan 1790 shortly before his wife remarried to Augustine(Austin) McGeehee, a widdower with children of his own. Their marriage date was 9 Feb 1790. Down the years children from both of their previous marriages married one-another!! Is it possible that this Matthew has a brother named George Thom(p)son in Louisa Co, or nearby, as another of my forebears grandson, Benjamin Lane, s/o of Henry, grandson of John Layne and Elizabeth Ayers Lane acted as an overseer for a plantation owned by George Thompson in 1750 time frame??? This Benj Lane- died young and w/o progeny. Any and all suggestions as to the family of Matthew Thompson would be more than welcome- my cousin has been up against this same wall for over twenty years and I just know we can help her break it down much as Reagan broke down the wall in Germany. SMILE!!!!!!!!!!! thanks much Alyce Hart
