To Mark Lacy and all other county researchers: I haven't posted my lines yet, but the Profit query caught my eye because I just found some stray Bowens (daughter of a Bowen/Profit marriage in Hanover Co) mixed in with the subject named families descended from Wash es and posted my information to the Bowen list. So I'll go ahead and place it here as well. The Lacy request was on both Amelia Co and Louisa Co lists so I'm responded to both, especially since my lines meet up in Powhatan. I hope to meet other researchers of my lines. Janet (Baugh) Hunter -- Here is what I have Fellow Bowen Researchers: I ran across the above Bowens when reviewing some information regarding my WASH family of Hanover and Louisa Co, VA, and I thought they might be someone's stray Bowens. I do not believe these are mine, which were on the Eastern Shore of MD (Wms I, II and III>Whittington>James>Elizabeth Richards Bowen), but then I haven't followed the paths of the many Bowens over there very closely. I have some more information on descendants of the first couple listed. The source of the information is a published account in a book on various families, that I forgot to copy the title page for. FYI, the Sarah MackGehee in #2, is said by thoroughly accepted MacGregor legend (ie, her descendants can get into the MacGregor clan in Scotland I am told) to be a descendant of the MacGregor clan chieftain of "Children/Sons of the Mist" (the untameable, mountain tribe of Scotland) Patrick MacGregor who married Marian MacDonald, fought under Montrose in 1640 battles, etc... Here is what I have on the Bowen direct line and a little on mine, starting from the earliest Wash (and I know there are some errors here, but most of it appears to be documented). Hope this helps someone...Maybe I have some more cousins out there... 1. Thomas Wash, b. 1702 (place of birth unknown) d. after 1764. Has wife Sarah in deeds in Louisa Co VA, but no marriage record and it is unclear whether she is mother of children. No will found. 2. Thomas Wash Jr. d. March 1781, Louisa Co VA. His will exists. He married Mary LIPSCOMB, d/o Thomas Lipscomb and Sarah MACKGEHEE. Sarah is the daughter of Thomas MACKGEHEE and Ann BASTROP/BAYTOP. Relevant children. 3a. (Mine) Lipscomb WASH, b. 1777 (I think maybe earlier) md. Elizabeth SAUNDERS, June 9, 1794, Powhatan Co VA. He was bound out to a millright in Powhatan after the death of his father. Elizabeth, according to their marriage record, is the daughter of Rev. John Hyde Saunders. My descend comes through their daughter Caroline who married Archibald Bolling BAUGH, February 1827, Powhatan Co, VA. Although the marriage was in Powhatan, the couple lived in Amelia Co VA. Archibald lived in Prince George Co in 1820, and is a tremendous brickwall. My descent from them is g grandfather William Edward/EGGLESTON Baugh md. Letsy Catherine SHELTON in Lawrence Co MO. My VA names associated with my Sheltons are COLEMAN, ROBERTSON, SHEPHARD,BUFORD,WALLER,COOPER,CARR,WINSTON,CLARK,ANTHONY,JOHNSON,HART and more. 3b. (Bowen ancestor) Thomas WASH (Revolutionary War), b. ca 1760 (DAR records), d. June 6, 1811, Louisa Co VA. He married Susannah Smith FOX (1767-1845) on January 4, 1785, in Louisa Co VA. Susannah was the daughter of John Fox and Grace (YOUNG) Fox. Children's names are taken from a Fox family prayer book. These are descendants of Thomas Wash and Susannah Fox: 4. Edmund WASH, b. September 20, 1790, d. April, 1858 (a will in Hanover Co VA). He married Nancy SNELSON on September 14, 1812 in Louisa Co VA. 5. Richard WASH. d/ bef 1847-1850 TN, md. Lucy Ann BUNCH (children in 1850 Hanover Co Census...I think the children moved from Tennessee back to Hanover after Richard died). 6. Lucius Edwin WASH, b. 1839 Shelby Co TN. m. Virginia Jackson BOWEN, December 20, 1865, Hanover Co VA. Virginia was the daughter of Thomas and Louisa (PROFIT) BOWEN. I show no children for Lucius and Virginia. Richard Wash other children were: (1) Thomas N. b. ca 1842 TN, md (a) ??? (b) Molly E. HARGROVE, D/o Thomas and Mary, (c) Sally B. Hargrove, sister to Molly; (d) Mary Elizabeth JONES, d/o W.H. and Sarah J. Jones (all marriages in Hanover Co); (2) Martha A. b. ca. 1844; (3) Richard C. b. 1847 TN, married Mary E. WEST, d/o Henry L & Nancy C. West, 1`874 Hanover. Hope this helped someone. Janet Hunter
