    3. I have been following this discussion on how to put a publication on a web site. I am not a tech by any means, however, consider: Using a scanner and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software is a time consuming process, which has been pointed out. Why not keep the scan in the original format. A scanner create a graphic representation of the image that is scanned. Most photo editor programs will crop the image into smaller sections i.e. 1/3 of a page. By reducing the size of the page (using paragraphs as break point) will allow placing the sections on a web site or publication on a list. The downsize to this procedure is the size of the graphic file is much larger than the same information in a text format, howeve it will save a lot of time in the reporduction of the information. I would be interested in the information in this book as both sides of my house are from VA. I am still trying to sort our all the old VA family surnames.
