I don't know. I have yet to find a record of a Clifton-Hall marriage, but then I am not in Virginia looking through the Louisa or Hanover Co, VA marriage books. Since the naming pattern seems to follow a Quaker pattern, they may still be originally from a New England line. (Yes, I know there were Quaker lines from other places!) There was also this other Hall line from Louisa Co-but they don't seem to follow the same Quaker naming pattern so they may not be related. Does anyone know about them. Alexander [email protected] Edmonds, WA USA -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2000 6:41 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [BullittHALL] OVERSTREET site From: [email protected] Good afternoon! Melissa: What do you want to bet that Anne's (or maybe Sarah's?) maiden name was CLIFTON? You have such wonderful luck with the IGI! And what do you want to bet that the children's names for Wm and Sarah were something like David/William/Robert/John/Nathan etc? (Ha Ha) I think we both agree that the father of Clifton, William, Simeon, and David was William and Anne Hall of Louisa, married about 1751, right? And William, brother of Clifton et al, married Hannah Stephens, and they moved to Bullitt Co, right? Read below: William and (H)annah had daughters named Zillah and Jeriah. But of course, the HALL and HARRIS marriage has no further info. Notice the migration pattern. Any thoughts? Anne, I think you are becoming one of our greatest resources. I printed out all the information on the OVERSTREET web page, so I could take it to work with me today, and look through it over lunch. I am glad I did. I have e-mailed the list owner for sources on this data, and hopefully he or she will respond soon. Here is what I have gleaned: James OVERSTREET b in 1736, in either England or Virginia, d in Jessamine County, KY, 2-27-1817, m 1) Jenny ? b in 1742, in Culpepper Co, VA, and died 9-19-1770, in VA, married Dec 6, 1759. **my note- according to the OVERSTREET page, John OVERSTREET was married 3 times. He had 5 children with his first wife Jenny, m. second to Annie ? who died in 1781, and bore him 5 children, and 3rd to Nancy DAVIS, born in 1760, died 1832, married 7-25-1783 who bore 11 children (I am exhausted just thinking of that many kids!). Two of the eleven were born in VA, nine in KY. In 1790, he sold his extensive holdings in VA, and packed up cattle, slaves, (and don't forget the kids!) and traveled from Culpepper Co,VA, up to the Ohio River, and then on a flat boat went down the Ohio to the mouth of the Kentucky River, then up the river to Fayette (now Jessamine) Co. He was accompanied by most of his children and their families. 1. James OVERSTREET m Jenny ? They had a son Thomas OVERSTREET b.
