They was not part of this Smith family. Our patriarch and immigrant was Christopher Smith. If you can make a connection I have tons of info on them. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Is this the family with a son named Robert Smith who married Ann E. L. Durvin? His mother was Elizabeth and I haven't found the name of his father. I believe he may have died young because she was on census records with children. Any information about these Smith's will be appreciated. Thanks. Do you show the graveyard of William Smith "B" and his first wife, Elizabeth Young ? We know nothing about Elizabeth but suspect her father could have been John Young because she named her son John Young Smith. We know we have a Randolph in the family somewhere and suspect that may have been a name on her mothers side. Does anyone know anything about these folks? William Smith "B" was the son of Thomas Ballard Smith, using the initial of "B" to distinguish himself from many other William Smith's. His mother was Anne Meriwether. Anything on Polly Chiles Houchens? Dan McGuire ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Hi again, Dan, I should give a better answer: I have never come across a Houchens or a Polly Chiles when researching Judith Woodson Chiles. For her sisters, I have: Lucy Sarah Elizabeth Mary (called "Molly") Edna Nancy Klotter ( in Genealogies of Kentucky Families from the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society, v. I), gives this for their children: "This list of her children is copied from a paper which Miss Cornelia Page had found in a trunk which had belonged to her grandmother, Jane McFall Graves, Jane being a granddaughter of Henry and Sarah Chiles." : Tarlton, Henry, Fleming, Judith Woodson, Nancy, Sarah H., Lucy Woodson, Elizabeth, Mary, Edna Fawney. Hutchison (in Tidewater Virginia Families : Generations Beyond) quotes the same list of Henry and Sarah's children, their spouses and their immigration as coming from the George Harrison Sanford King (1914-1985) papers held at the Virginia Historical Society. Henry and Sarah were members of the Golansville Monthly Meeting (Quaker) until they married and both were disowned as they were first cousins. (See W.W.Hinshaw, Encyclopedia of America Quaker Genealogy, 1750-1930, , vol. 6, p. 227) Henry was reinstated, Sarah was not. I have not been able to find an online access to the original Golansville Monthly Meeting records, (possibly at Swarthmore, no one seems to know) to see if their children are listed or not. They are not in Hinshaw, so I suspect not, as their mother was not reinstated. That is everything I have been able to find on Judith's siblings. I am sorry I have not been able to find your Polly. Keep looking. She'll turn up one day. Anna __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Lois, I have no one by the Pace name at all in my list. I am pretty sure that I have all of my Meriwether Smith's (1769-1823, Louisa Co.) sisters and daughters, and there is no Elizabeth among them. I am not sure if this is helpful, but the line of Thomas Ballard Smith and Anne Meriwether used the name Elizabeth fairly often. Have you tried searching their descendants? Good luck. I don't know if you found the Bruce family cemetery or not for publication of Vol 1. If not, and if you can find it, please add it to the next volume? I found the cemetery a number of years ago and wrote down the directions to it, however, in subsequent trips I have been unable to locate it again. The last time I went looking, there was a lot of construction going on and I sure hope that it is still there. The directions that I have are: >From Boswell's Tavern, take Rt 22 to Rt 615. From Rt 615 to Rt 694. Turn right on 694. Go approx 1 mile and turn right on a dirt road. When I was there, the dirt road had a gate or a rope across the entrance stating that the property was for sale and to contact the Cobham Hunt Club. My assumption is that the Hunt Club probably owned the property. The cemetery is approx 1/4 down the dirt road . It is in a grove of cedar trees on the left. It can be seen from the dirt road. There was a wire fence with a gate around it. At the time I was there, there was a small stream, maybe a foot or so wide that ran across it and would have water only if it rained. Because the entrance was blocked, I walked the quarter mile or so to the cemetery. I will never forget the red mud I took back with me. The tombstones that are there are: B B Bruce, Brander's Co., Va Lt. Arty CSA. (This would be Brightberry Brown Bruce b 12/16/1822 d 5/1/1899) Paul Uleyate Bruce Nov 17 1855 Dec 22, 1931 Mary Ann Bruce Oct 12, 1863, Mar 1 1947 William L Bruce Oct 17, 1889 Oct 28, 1889 W. Edward Wright Oct 7, 1871 Apr 26 1899 There were five indentions that may or may not be unmarked graves Please let me know the price of Vol 1 and where to order it. Many thanks Bea (Bruce) Hudson ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
I don't know where Judith was buried but Meriwether was buried at Marigold in Louisa Co. That was another plantation but not sure who owned it. I will have to search my papers and see if I still have that. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
