No. I'm new at this and not sure where to look for names and am not familiar with the different sources that are available for use. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Do newspapers for Louisa exist for the years around 1852-53? Also, I plan to visit Louisa in December but will only have one day. What is the best place to visit to see the most records? I have not been in the area in at least 15 years (when Quintus Massie gave me tons of assistance). Are there other researchers on this list that are researching the Morris line connected to George, John, Isaac, etc in the middle to late 1700's? Suzie Morris Ball
Has anyone seen a reference to Moses Clack, or his descendants, in Louisa County about 1750, in any of the new publications? Randall G. Clack

I'm new at researching family history and have a question. In the index you have some of the Grubbs family names, Brother, Virginia, and Myrtle to name some, but I have not found anything on Gustina & William Grubbs. They are Brother's aunt &uncle or grandparents, I'mm not sure which. How do you determine who is listed in the index? Both sides of my mother grandparents lived in Louisa for many years, some never living anywhere else. Greetings, This past weekend I placed the following information on the Louisa website: 1.. Master Index at: http://www.trevilians.com/master/ixmaster001.htm#top This is a combined index (134,218 entries) of many of the others that are on the site (i.e. LCHS, deeds, probate, census, marriages, etc.) I have not tried to have each entry be able to link directly to the source record, so I just placed a link to the index for that category of record. There are probably a few errors, but if you let me know about them, I'll fix 'em! 2.. Chancery Causes at: http://www.trevilians.com/chancery/chanceryix1.htm#top This index shows if a person was a plaintiff or defendant and will link to another page that will show all names mentioned in the document. Provided by Janice Abercrombie, this list contains 32,000 names. 3.. Death Certificates at: http://www.trevilians.com/deathcert.htm#top This list is a "work in progress" and contains 1,500 names where Pat Baber has copied an image of the certificate. 4.. 1920 Census at http://www.trevilians.com/census20/cenix1.htm This is only a partial transcription and contains about 1,200 names. At one point it contained 9,000+, but thanks to bad advice from 'friends' at HP, the data was lost. Since we are approaching the holiday season, I will ask once again for each of YOU to give all of the members of this list a gift. Doesn't need to be large or expensive, will accept any records you may have laying around relating to Louisa County (yes, you can even 're-gift!). Thank You, Wayne Dunn

Donna: Shifflett is detailed and factual. It is an excellent book for socio-ecconomic-political background on Louisa County. I relied on it heavily for culture and ecconomic understanding of the area. The book is easy to obtain, but if your local library doesn't have a copy, I had no trouble borrowing it through interlibrary loan. Pattie Cooke's book has a wonderful collection of photographs. It has so many individuals pictured from the Hall murder trial that I specifically recommend it as a companion book to mine. I have not looked at the other books. I have read other of Janice Ambercrombie's works. You can bet her research is top notch. I ordered my book from Amazon "Murder at Green Springs" got it Monday and between caring for my family I am reading it and it is very good! I have alot of Janice Abercrombie books and I can highly recommend them. The same with Rosalie Davis. Patronage and Poverty, is a hard read but well researched. The marriage books are always good to have. The book by John C. Bell has good records but the way it is indexed it is hard to use.
