In reply to M. F. Belton about Fluvanna County. Yes, Fluvanna County did come from Albermarle County. The line of succession is Henrico 1634 to Goochland 1728 and Chesterfield 1749, Goochland to Albermarle 1744 and Cumberland 1749, Albermarle to Buckingham 1761 and Amherst 1761 and Fluvanna 1777. Hello, I am new to the list and hope someone can help me. I am trying to identify the parents of both of my 3rd great grandparents: Ovetton Tazewell/Taswell Gardner (aka Otis T). b. Louisa Co. VA , 10/27/1813. He married Lucy Winslow Hatch, born b. 9/12/1817, in Berkshire Co. MA. They had one son, John Dabney Gardner, b. 12/25/1836 in Lousia Co. VA. John m. Julia Polk Lander b. 11/17/1844 in Hopkinsville, KY, the daughter of William David Lander and Ann Wood Rogers. All four of the above are buried in the Gardner Cemetery in Cerulean Springs, Trigg Co, KY, I just visited their gravesites this month. I would appreciate help whatsoever, they are both my brick walls. Thank you, Rose Thank = you, Rose
Someone has probably asked this question before. If so, I missed the answer. What was/is Haley's Diary? I see it referred to in the indexes to the LCHS Bulletin. Also, when Fluvanna Co. was formed in 1777, was it formed from Albemarle, Louisa or Goochland? I had relatives living near what is the current boundary of Albemarle. Does anyone know where I can buy a used copy of "Old Homeplaces of Louisa Co., VA" by Chisholm and Lillie? Mary-Frances Jones Hoh

I have been researching the Almon(d) line for about 20 years off and on. This past year, mostly by email and forums. I have other land transactions with Thomas, Edward and William Almon listed. My question is: At which facility would I be best served to spend my day? I have little experience with research techniques before 1790. What kind of resources are available in Louisa Co? Would it be better to go to Richmond?thanks... Mike Almon (IN) >> Personally, I'd go to Louisa - the same records will be in the Library of Virginia, but they are on microfilm and sometimes very difficult to read. If I only had one day, I would not want to take a chance on not being able to read the very papers I came to see. Bev

Hello everyone, I'm part of a group of people, researching Clarks and all their related families. We've constructed 6 webpages giving (Direct Line Descendancy's) of the lines from which some of us descend and/or are researching. It's at http://members.tripod.com/ClarkCousins/ (Note: Many of us are cousins who have found each other online while researching Clarks.) If you're researching a Clark line, please drop by and see if we have any information on your Clark line. You might even be another cousin. If you only have one Clark in your family, you might want to drop by and try to find out if you're related to any of us. Keep in mind these are not complete charts, they contain only the basic direct line descendancy of that Clark researcher. If you feel you may have a connection to any of the lines, please contact us at [email protected] If your Clark line isn't there already, you can contribute your own Clark line for posting, if you like. It might help you find new family info or maybe even meet a cousin you never knew you had. I'm new to this list. Researching THOMASSONs, many of whom went from Louisa Co. to KY in early 1800s. Samuel D THOMASSON b ca1765; d Hopkins Co KY 1823. Other Louisa names Thomas ALMON & & Elijah SANSOM. (1700s) --Sue
Can anyone tell me where Perkinsville area is located? Does anyone know of cemetery listings for the area? I understand that there is a LONG family cemetery, but do not know of location. Also interested in cooresponding with anyone researching LONG/CLEMENTS/HICKS in that area. thanks in advance Jackie
I read somewhere that the Louisa records weren't sent to Richmond. That someone took the records home (perhaps a clerk) and hid them. And that's why the records are so intact. Wish I could remember where I heard or read that. Anyone else hear or read about this? It would make sense. Mary-Frances Hoh
