Asa HARRIS (b 1762 CT; d. VA) and his wife, Elizabeth WRIGHT had children born in Loudoun County, VA. Children included: Samuel b. 1780; John b. ca 1782; Anthony b. ca 1784; Ruth b. ca 1786. Samuel HARRIS removed to Menallen Township, Fayette County, PA where he died in 1872. Does anyone have any information about the other children? I am especially interested in John HARRIS; is he the same John HARRIS who lived in Georges Township, Fayette County, PA with wife, Sarah ca 1810-1860? Thank you so much for your help! Grace
In this day, a journal is generally a personal book in which memories or daily events are recorded. In the 18th Century, I have read preserved journals which included records of the individual's neighbors and friends - events, deaths, illnesses, baptisms, etc. In the estate sale of Anthony Wright held in 1818, Joseph Wright received two old journals. Would someone knowledgable about "journals" in the 19th Century please inform me of the definition of a journal in that time period.
