If you have records on runaway slave files, is there any way you can look up whether my ancestors placed any such ads? My ancestors, William and Maria BELT lived in Leesburg; the wife was born about 1822 (age 48 in the 1870 census.) The whole family is listed as white. (I just got this off the National Archives in Waltham MA today. A non-white ancestor would have been exciting news to my relatives.) A farm labourer named Richard Jones is listed with them as Race M (mulatto).
