    3. >From "History of Middleburg", page 22 (one of the few pages from this book I have photocopied): "And what of Chinn's Cross Roads, a name that, since 1937, regularly appears in hunt-country literature, and one that I, too, am guuilty of perpetrating. On page eighty-three of Ruth Wilson Dillon's genealogy, "The Chinn Book," she intimates that Elizabeth Chinn gave Chinn's Cross Roads, Virginia, as her place of residence when she married John Wilson in Frederick, Maryland, in 1796. That lead was worth a drive to Frederick, but in the marriage register there was no indication as to where the newlywed were from. A letter to Mrs. Dillon's Cottonport, Louisiana, address was returned - no person by that name in town - and a letter to her publisher also came back; out of business. Whether Mrs. Wilson had some family scrap, or whether, like the rest of us, she just got caught up in the name, remains a question. As to the fabled Chinn's Ordinary, the closest one can come is Alexandria; a Joseph Chen received a tavern license there in 1754." The book "Old Plantations and Historic Homes around Middleburg VA...." by Audrey Windsor Bergner, also dedicates about 17 pages to the Chinn family and their homes, including several pictures. It does not mention Elizabeth Chinn Wilson. Pat Duncan p.duncan@worldnet.att.net
