Hmm very interesting. First of all why does EVERYONE BUT ME seem to have a copy or has had access to the History of Middleburg and The Chinn Story. Anyway... I obtained this information in my research and happened upon it. If you go to RedFox.com which is the web site to the Red Fox Inn in Middleburg and click on the HISTORY of the Inn circa 1728 it tells how it was originally Chinn's Ordinary which was established by Joseph Chinn from land given to him by his father Rawleigh. Then click down at the bottom and go to Middleburg Online or go to the home page and browse around. In Middleburg Online and the Town History it talks about Joseph selling the land to Levin Powell. I am going to have to go to my library and get a loan on the Chinn Book because everyone who as responded to my inquiries seems to have all gotten their information from the Chinn Book. Now it appears as though my Elizabeth is in there as well. I need to verify that she and John Wilson ACTUALLY married. Someone told me there was nothing in Maryland for a Chinn female. So I'm confused. I will have to write to the court records for information. But there are many places which talks about this. www.middleburgrealestate.com/sub/abtthetown.html talks all about how in 1731 Rawleigh obtained patent on 3300 acres in Northern Neck Proprietary which he passed upon his death to his son Joseph and then goes on about Chinn's Crossroads.
Does anyone have a copy of the will of Rawleigh CHINN? If so, could you post it with the county, book and page # so that I can send for a copy? Thanks!!
