Max, In my book called, Frederick County Marriages, 1738- 1850", it states the following on page 176: "MCCARTY Hiram & Sarah Self 21 Apr 1819; b-Eve Self Joseph & Rebecca Curtlett 10 Dec 1795; min-Elisha Phelps Joseph & Mary Strider 25 Apr 1835; b-Henry Strider Peter & Nancy Jones 4 Jan 1804; b- Andrew Jones" Then it states the following on page 404 of the same book: "MCCARTY Elizabeth Jane & John Stuart 20 Mar 1838; min- Elisha Gardner Margaret & Mark Duke 25 Feb 1818; min-Wm Hill Sarah & Zachariah Games 19 Jun 1821; min-James Walls." In my book called,"Frederick Co., 1850 Census", lists a bunch of MCCARTY families. It states the following on page 124: "MCCARTY Joseph 34 shoemaker Mary 31 Virginia 14 Archibald 12 William 10 James 8 Cornelius 4 Charles 2 MCCARTY Timothy 40 Laborer b-place IRE Ann 40 b-place IRE Cornelius 16 b-place IRE Joanna 15 b-place HFX William 14 b-place MA Ann 12 b-place RE Timothy b-place MD Joseph 8 John 5 James 3 Margaret 1 MCCARTY William 40 Laborer b-place IRE Margaret 28 b-place IRE Hannah 7 Mary A 5 Elenora 2" There are two mentions of a Hugh MCCARTY mentioned in my 1787 Census of VA. It states the following on page 498: This is under Frederick County Personal Property Tax 1787 - List "A" "MCCARTY Hugh self 0 0 0 0 1" The next one is on page 529. This is a regrouping of taxpayers by date called upon - as a means of identifying neighbors. "04/17 MCCARTY Hugh" There is a lot in Fauquier County. Do you want any given name? Please let me know! Susan, Thanks very much. Your hard work is really appreciated. Judging by the McCarty names here in Frederick Co, some are probably relatives that I haven't yet placed. Since there are so many in Fauquier, I won't ask you to send those now, but if I get a further lead into Fauquier, I may get back to you. Thanks again, Max ----- Original Message ----- From: <SUZYQ89@prodigy.net> To: <VALOUDOU-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 08, 2002 9:47 PM Subject: Re: [VALOUDOU-L] I am willing to do look ups in my books. > Max, > In my book called, Frederick County Marriages, 1738- > 1850", it states the following on page 176: > > "MCCARTY Hiram & Sarah Self 21 Apr 1819; b-Eve Self > Joseph & Rebecca Curtlett 10 Dec 1795; min-Elisha > Phelps > Joseph & Mary Strider 25 Apr 1835; b-Henry Strider > Peter & Nancy Jones 4 Jan 1804; b- Andrew Jones" > > Then it states the following on page 404 of the same > book: > > "MCCARTY Elizabeth Jane & John Stuart 20 Mar 1838; min- > Elisha Gardner > Margaret & Mark Duke 25 Feb 1818; min-Wm Hill > Sarah & Zachariah Games 19 Jun 1821; min-James Walls." > In my book called,"Frederick Co., 1850 Census", lists > a bunch of MCCARTY families.
