Hello - I continue to seek a connection between William Sample, born 1789 in Loudoun County, with James and Sarah Sample. The couple appear to have been the only Sample family in Loudoun country at the time. By 1812 William Sample was in Kaskaskia, Illinois, where in that year he married Nancy Preston, also of Virginia. In early 1817 the couple settled near Belleville, Illinois where they farmed until his death in 1844. The grave stone states he was born 19 November 1789 in Loudoun County, Virginia.
