SPINSTER - A woman still unmarried........... See <http://members.tripod.com/~Silvie/charts.html> for a great list of genealogy terms Regards, Bob Wissinger -----Original Message----- From: Teresia & Jamil Scott [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2006 6:41 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [VALOUDOU-L] Census Terms To All, Is there anyone out there that can answer a question for me? Why on some of the census records does it list woman that should be married as "Spinster"? I believe I was looking at the 1860 Scott Co., VA census, but I have seen this term used on other census records. The people I was looking at were suppose to be married and had several children. Teresia Scott Hamilton, VA Genealogy, it's a family thing.
