Genealogy Lecture - this Saturday - Jan 14 - 1 PM Frederick, MD "Documenting Your Individual and Family Health History" Speaker - Dr. Linda Sherman, from Rockville, MD Location: Homewood at Crumland Farms - north of Frederick - just west of Rt #15, on Willow Road - multipurpose room. FRECOGS - Frederick Co. Genealogical Society monthly educational program - open to general public at no charge. This January 14th program will be the first of two programs on Health and Genetic Genealogy presented by the Frederick County Genealogical Society, Frecogs. Dr. Sherman will talk about the methods to document individual and family health history, which could just save your life and the life of a loved one, by graphing our family pedigree and help to understand the roll genetics play in various diseases. The follow-up second program will be presented by Frecogs on Saturday, February 11 - 1 PM - Homewood at Crumland Farms. Speaker: Thomas H. Shawker, M.D. - "Unlocking your Genetic History - Discovering your Family's Medical and Genetic Heritage" Dr. Shawker has lectured at the NGS Annual Conferences, and is Chairman of the National Genealogical Society's Family Health and Heredity Committee. He is currently President of Prince George's County Genealogical Society, and has authored several hundred scientific publications. We are proud to have as our January speaker, Dr. Linda Sherman, who is an internist and pathologist, formally trained as an educator, as a tropical medicine specialist and a public health administrator. Dr. Sherman's specialty is infectious diseases and worked with anti-infective drugs and women's health issues She is currently retired from the Food and Drug Administration, and now her interests include issues related to the Second World War.
