    3. Hello list, I dont know where to begin. I have just found some leads in several files in World Connect area of Rootsweb and those leads have generated lots of questions. The family of William and Magaret Evans Williams supposedly moved to Loudoun in 1743, and the children's births from 1743-1760 are shown as Fairfax, Loudoun Co, VA. William and Margaret had married in 1739 in Chester Meeting House near Philadelphia, VA. They had two children when they came to Loudoun, Priscilla and Isaac. Born or baptised at Fairfax MM, I gather, are Owen 1743, Mary 1746, Richard 1749, Elizabeth, 1750, Rachel 1752, Margaret 1755, Jean 1758, and Daniel 1760. The family then moved to Cane Creek, Orange Co, now ChathamCo, NC, about 1862. Other references are Cane Creek Meeting which I gather means MM, or again, Quaker. I know I have read references to Quaker records on this list, but have no memory of how long ago they might have appeared, and at the time thought I didn't have any Quakers to search for. We live and learn, as we get older and hopefully wiser. So Marty, or Pat, or Betty, could you give me a push in the right direction to the Quaker record locations? Mary, Richard and Jean are the only ones that I haven't found any marriage location for...the others married in NC. I would be curious to know if Mary by any strange chance married in Loudoun, and/or was excommunicated for marrying an outsider of the faith. She would have been 16-18 years old when the family moved to NC, and might have stayed in Loudoun. Jean would have been too young. I'll thank you in advance for whatever you can help me with, and I'll thank you again if you do. : ) Tosca "People will never look forward to posterity who never look back to their ancestors" by Edmund Burke

    2. Tosca, I remember viewing old homes in Waterford,VA, just a little ways north from Leesburg,VA and running across one home built by a William Williams (if I remember correctly) and that community was started by Quakers I think around 1731. I'm going from memory, so info may not be entirely accurate. Hope this helps. James A.
