Some of the Rightmire family also use other spellings of the Mire part of the surname also....such as Meyer, Mier, Mayer......also many times the name is just misspelled of course...Original spelling may have been Rechtmier ?? Recht is the word "right" in German and some early spellings indicate this may be the original or close to it.... I have had lots of help on this list from Pat and Marty...but on the off chance that new members may have joined I would like to ask again for any information on a Rightmire family who apparently lived in Cameron Parish Loudoun County Virginia at least from 1775 to 1800's ...first names James, William. Eliz/Mary/(married a Garner) Phoebe (married John Spencer) Benjamin (possibly Cornelius and Robert also) May have had other relatives who lived in Loudoun County Va. also...surnames unknown ???....Rightmire's were probably Palatine Germans, but also may have married into Holland Dutch families..Possibly came from the Hunterdon County New Jersey area...less likely from a group of Rightmyers who lived in Saugertes New York area early to mid 1700's although they may be another branch of the same family... Trying to tie the Virginia families to either/or the New Jersey or New York families.... Those Revolutionary times seem to be short on records but may have missed something along the way. Thanks Alice
