    3. For future reference, this book is one of many listed on the Loudoun Co USGENWEB volunteer look-up page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~valoudou/lookups.htm The Militia Journals were county militia records for that time period, primarily of company rosters and fines for missed musters. There are few references to any personal information. From the Introduction: " All able bodied male citizens over the age of eighteen were required to enroll in the militia. Men who missed drills or musters, and who failed or refused to obey orders could be fined seventy five cents for each offense. Habitual offenders could be fined up to three dollars. .. any man, on his way to some other place, who lingered in the county for more than a year, became subject to militia duty, at least until he moved on. There were few exemptions from militia service, those being for age, illness, or disability, extreme hardship, and a few for some in essential occupations." Page 19: A Roster of Capt. James White's Company, Class No. 9 [1794] - Moses Durnell, Matthias Anderson, Adam Wishart, Francis McKamie, Michael Rufe, James Gregory, Philip Addleman. This is the only mention of the name Francis McKamie in these Journals.
