This LEVIN H.POWELL (along with siblings, WILLIAM, CUTHBERT & ALFRED HARRISON POWELL) had a brother BURR POWELL, b. 4 May 1768, d. 11 Oct. 1839 in "The Hill" Middleburg, Fauquier Co?, VA. He mar. The John Leven Powell I have as b. 1804 d. 1863 that married Maria Louise Grady had brothers Alfred Harrison Powell, Cuthbert Powell and William Alexander Powell as did his father Leven Powell Jr. b. 1772 d. 1807 m. to Susan Elizabeth Orr. It was this Leven Powell Jr. that had the 10 siblings including William, Burr, Cuthbert and Alfred. His father Lt. Col (John) Leven Powell's parents were William Powell d. 1788 m. 1736 to Eleanor Peyton. Notes on John Leven Powell: Moved to Loudoun Co. Va and settled on lands patented by his father. Built his home "The Shades" probably before the Revolutionary War. After the revolution, the General Assembly granted 60,000 acres. In 1787 he gave land for the town of Middleburg. He was Vestryman of Shelburne Parish. He was major on Loudoun County minute men, 1775. He was appointed lieutenant colonel of Grayson's Continental regiment, 1777, and resigned the following year on account of impaired health, caused by exposure at Valley Forge. His brothers William and Peyton also served in the war. He was a member of the first Continental Congress, a friend of George Washington. Eleanor was the daughter of Valentine Peyton and unknown. Don't have parents for William. Again, this is all information proven and unproven that I've compiled.
