    3. Please forgive! The various RUSSELL families can be confounding. I so appreciate the hard work and typing my fellow researchers have done. I so wish I had not left no doubt that the Loudoun Russells are surely not mine!! You are so very helpful and share so much, I am realling kicking myself for not making that clear. Regretfully, I sent some of you off in the wrong direction. My David Russell would appear to be related to at least 3 different and probably unrelated Russell lines. He isn't related though. Early on, I tried to connect him to most of these various Russell lines. What I tell you now, is subject to CORRECTION, for I do most from memory. My Russells from old SHEN. Co, then became WARREN CO., VA: 1) Use Given names: JOHN, ROBERT, DAVID, RICHARD, WILLIAM, ELIZABETH, JANE and MARY 'Polly' (Who m'd ELI HOLLINGSWORTH in Indiana.) 2) My David (b.21 Mar 1759) was the son of JOHN Russell (b.abt 1720-1730) & ISABELL (Isabella) Nee? 3) JOHN Russell was the immigrant from IRELAND via England to board ship. (NO proof, family lore) 4) My Russells show no evidence of being Quaker. 5) They appear to travel 'alongside' or live near Quaker groups. LOUDOUN CO, VA Russells: Most were Quaker. Most Russells use the same given names, including MAHLON..which later is used once in our INDIANA RUSSELLS. After looking, I could find no connection to the Loudoun Co. VA MAHLON RUSSELL. Dee Ann Buck told me of the Will of one ROBERT RUSSELL (Loudoun Co, VA) who left legacies to aunts (by name) in IRELAND. I thought there might be a chance to connect, even though the Loudoun Co. Russells were originally Quaker. MY David had a brother ROBERT; but his will was different. The Loudoun Co. Robert from Ireland gave me hope the two families might connect; but a descendant of the Loudoun RUSSELLs tell me they were immigrants from England. So, its possible the Robert Russell of the Will in Loudoun may have been a 'lone' Russell. WINCHESTER VA area Russells, . When I looked at the Quaker monthly minutes and saw David Russell..right generation there, I thought I'd discovered 'gold'. But they were different individuals with differing spouces and children. Those Winchester Russells are children of a RICHARD RUSSELL who (from memory) was first in (?Holland) before migrating on to our shores. It was believed he migrated from England to ?Holland, then to America. (Pennsylvania) At one time, I checked his children, none matched my Russells. I also purchased the book written by Wm. Greenway Russell to check. COL. WILLIAM RUSSELL of the Revolution: There again, David Russell appeared a possible match with those Russells, then in Culpeper Co, VA. However, that David settled in Louisville, KY at the same time our David Russell was in OH and IND. There appears no match there either. Wrong spouces and children for each matching name. I'm sure others will benefit from your Russell data for it is good. Thanks again.. and I am sorry to lead you astray. Shirley S.
