I have been attempting to locate information about my ancestor, Benjamin Brady, who served joined a militia unit in Loudoun County during the American Revolution. I would like to find out information about his militia unit and also who his family was in Loudoun. Most of the information I have about him is from his pension application which he filed while living in Allegany County, MD. He was b in York County, PA and moved to Loudoun as a small boy. He stayed there after the Revolution and eventually moved to Maryland. Here is what the pension information says about his unit: That he entered in the service of the United States as a militia man on the > day July 1788 at New Gate, Loudon County, State of Virginia, under the > command of Captn. Smith, remained there for some time, from there to > Williamsburg, from there to Glouster Point, and there remained until the surrender of > Lord Cornwallace. From there to Winchester as a guard, at which place he > remained until until discharged. (All spellings of place names are as in the > original file.) There isn't any further information identifying his military unit or family in Loudoun. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. Joe Wright, Chicago
