the Steinbrenner/Stoneburner reference to Catherine as "Catherine Caty" was an obvious attempt to communicate the nickname "Caty" along with the formal given name, but the writer did not know exactly how to say it in writing. "Caty" like "Maggie" for Margaret, "Polly" for Mary, Martha, "Nancy" for Ann, Agnes, etc. were commonly used nicknames which often were mistaken for middle names in an era which such were uncommon. Jacob Curtis Stoneburner married Charlotte Elizabeth Conard, a g-g-g aunt of mine, and they lived in Baltimore. Have data. Good luck! Erik P Conard --Denver--
