Don't be too shocked at this response. I suspect it is the typical response of someone who constantly takes information off the Loudoun, Fairfax, and other mailing lists and adds it to their pages. You would be hard pressed to find original research on this persons pages, but if you have ever submitted information to this or other Virginia lists, your research is probably there. It is hard to add to information posted if you didn't do any work on it. I find much of my research on this pages, and have, in fact, ceased posting to the lists as freely as I did in the past because of this individual. In the future I will gladly share privately, but not publicly. The parts of my research that I want on the web are there, but under family names, monitored by myself or other family members. When we find errors we correct them and new original research is done constantly. No one should ever mind sharing with family members, no matter how distant. Finding new cousins is what it is all about. What fun! But after ten+ years working at this, anyone would feel a certain pride of their work, and a certain amount of, not really ownership, but maybe the right to have a modicum of control over our own work. Finding our work on someone's pages when we have sent very little, or nothing to them, maybe haven't even corresponded with them, kind of grates. I challenge all of you who have shared family information on these lists to check out the mentioned pages and see what is there. If I am wrong, I apologize. If I am right, it is time to bring this into the open. Its a shame that if they are going to "use" everyone else's work that they at least get it right. Stupid to steal wrong information. LOL I just checked it out, and found huge mistakes. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Betty" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 14, 2005 9:18 AM Subject: Re: [VALOUDOU-L] VA ,D.C,MD,PA,NJ ,TX,GA,NC, NY,GENEALOGIES > Don't be too shocked at this response.
