Barnett/Barnet/Barrett Swart was b. abt 1765 in Bucks Co. PA. He married in Loudon or Fauquier Counties. His wife was named Catherine. He died between 1840 and 1850 in Fauquier Co. The name Barnett is an Americanized version of the Dutch name Barend/Barent. Barnett's parents were Adrian Jacobus Swart (Feb. 29 1732 - 1797) & Maria Hegeman (April 1740 - March 28, 1783). Adrien was born in Middletown, Monmouth Co. New Jersey and died in Loudon County. Maria was born in Bucks Co. PA and died in Loudon Co. They were married Oct. 26, 1758 in Bedminster, Bucks County PA. The records for the Dutch Reformed Churches, they attended, kept wonderful records so their families are well documented before they reached Virginia. Adrien and Maria's ancestors settled in New Amsterdam. The documented ancestry for the Hegeman family goes back to the 1400's in the Netherlands.
