I have a question about the land around loudoun co. Va. My 3rd great grandfatherConrad Shaffer1745-1818-20 sold land to Fredrick Lampert the 15 of sept.1798. a tract of land situated on thecatoctan in loudoun co. and begining at lott where william freymeirs lives to stones on george meiers laneand corner to land sold josiah clapham then along line to stones northside of buckhorn runthen to stake on rock hill to dividing fence between amont and brell (?) then along line of amont's lott. this is the first land. ( the second as follows ) Conrad's Plantation from henry astley bennett to conrad shaffer 13 april 1793 land laying on the catoctan,in loudoun co.va. viz begining at a black oakonthe east sideof the ferry west corner to col. clapham's land ont he road then down along said road and the line of clapham's land ---poles, then west 54 poles in said road about 10 ft. to the left of a red oak marked as a corner, then south 10, e. 74 poles to a stake on the west side of the road then ---1- poles to a stake in the line of jacob cordell's lot, then along said line no 3, e.3272 (?) poles to a stake in the mouth(?) of said shaver's and cordell's lane. then along another line of cordell's lot so. --- 60 poles to an oak corner to davis lott, then along his line n. 15 -- poles to a pile of stones in line of ammon's lott, then n. 55 w. 30 poles to a white oak in ammon's lane then alonganother of his lines n. 59 w. 1251/2 poles to begining , containing 98 acres, being land conveyed to conrad shaver by notice of saleto be in alexanderand baltimore gazettes.signed by conrad shaver in very german handwriting. is there a way to figure out where this land is located and is there old style land maps i could buy with the acres marked Thanks Dick Shafer djs309@mchsi.com
