Charlie, According to the information on Ancestry, Edwin Purcell was the son of Samuel Purcell and Margaret Copeland. Samuel was the son of Thomas Purcell and Mary Van Hook. Purcellville was named after Valentine Vernon Purcell, the son of Thomas Purcell and Lydia Vernon. Thomas Purcell was the son of Thomas Purcell and Mary Van Hook. Therefore Edwin and Valentine would have been first cousins. This information was submitted by other researchers so should be accepted with a the appropriate amount of caution.
