I do not know if that individual received a private reply, but I can state that no Bell's Crossing is mentioned in "Guide to Loudoun" nor the "Loudoun Discovered" series by Eugene Scheel. The person posting the query did not give a clear indication as to the time period (very important when posting a query.) After checking my "Index to the Loudoun Co. Personal Property Tax Lists 1782-1850" I found Jasper Spence as the head of the household beginning in 1819. This would indicate he was born sometime in the later 1700's. The earliest Spence to appear on these lists was John Spence in 1803. A Jasper Spence appears on the 1812 and 1815 Fairfax Co. Personal Property Tax Lists. Other than a William Spence who appears on the 1784 PPT list in Fairfax, no other Spence appears until Jasper in 1812. There is always a chance that the name was misspelled as Spencer in the earlier records. The town name Bell's Crossing may have changed so long ago that it has long been forgotten. It may have been the name given to the home where his parent's lived and would not appear in most records. Jasper may not have been born in Fairfax County and the search needs to be in another county. Bell's Crossing could be the location on a river or creek area where the name was used only for a short period. I'm sure there are other possibilities too.
