There is a John Gregg on the 1830 Loudoun Census, but not a John Grigg. John C. Gregg is on the 1840 Clarke Census. The Loudoun Personal Property Tax Lists show: 1849A Second District Gregg, John C. residing with Ewers, Jonathan 1850B Second District Gregg, John C. residing with Ewers, Jonathan You may need to look at the Clarke Co. Pers. Prop. Tax Lists to see when John C. appears. This is my John as I have seen spelling both ways Gregg and Grigg, but your time line is right. Since he was born about 1804, he would probably not be on any earlier census like 1820. He is my great-great grandfather and I am trying to get a little more on him and his family.
