Loudoun County, Virginia, Will Book B, page 115, In the name of God Amen, This first day of June in the year of our Lord 1775, I William McClelon of the County of Loudoun in the Colony of Virginia finding myself in a Low Declining state of health but of perfect sense and Memory, thanks be to almighty God for the same calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Dye do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner & form following. That is to say, first and principally I recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it to me And my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken, to be buryed in Such like manner as my Executors (hereafter mentioned) shall think proper And as touching the worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me, I dispose of as followeth (Viz). My Will & desire is that my just debts & funeral charges be first paid & discharged. Item my will and desire is that James Linn have a full suit of Broad Cloth and £5 Virginia currency, and if he chooses to go to Carolina next fall he must have it then. Item I give and bequeath to my Loving wife one third part of all my Estate real and personal. Item I give and Bequeath to my Son William McClelon £40 Virginia Currency and my large Bible. Item I give and Bequeath to my daughter Mary [Martha] Murpha £10 Virginia Currency. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Beavers £10 Virginia Currency. Item I give & bequeath to my son Robert McClelon all the rest of my Estate both real & personal. Item My will and desire is that my loving Wife Sarah Wilson McClelon, William Linn, Richard Skinner & Phineas Skinner Executors of this my last will & Testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day & year within written. William McClelon. Signed, Sealed and Acknowledged in presence of Nicholas Wychoff, Thomas Gorham, Thos Lewis. At a Court held for Loudoun County August the 15th 1775. This Will was proved by the Oaths of Thomas Lewis & Thomas Gorham Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Sarah Wilson McClelon Executrix and Richard Skinner, William Linn & Phineas Skinner Executors therein named, who taking the usual Oath, Certificate is granted them for Obtaining a Probate thereof in due form, they giving Security. Whereupon the said Sarah, Richard, William & Phineas with Nathaniel Smith and Thos Gorham their Securities entered into and acknowledged Bond in the Penalty of £500 currency with condition as the Law directs.
