    1. [VALOUDOU-L] Who was Susan Byrne of Waterford? Wright/Beall Connection

    3. Ok, just because you asked for it. From Louisa's ABC book (Apprentices, Bastards, and poor Children) page 44: Susanna Burns was 15 years old in 1787, and bound or apprenticed in 1788 (a typo correction, not 1778). There's no mention of her being "colored," or mulatto, so first I would want to know why you think she is the same as Susan Burns of Waterford in 1850? Was Thomas Matthews an African American? >From page 52: Susanna Byrne (Byrns) 3 years old in 1790, was bound or apprenticed (there is a difference, and the book doesn't say which) to Mary Ann Graves in 1791. Reference Order Book N:154. There was a Byrne family connected to the Lintons. She might be part of that group. Then there's Samuel and Uriah Byrne who lived near the Fauquier Co. line Ms. Marty Hiatt, CGRS "Document what you find, listen to what you are told, and especially, love and respect your work."
