    3. Yes indeed I was watching that show. I have been as well as cousins have been pursuing our shearer line and have followed it back to George Shearer born approx 1777 but where we have no clues. We are an Irish line or Scot-Irish Armstrong County PA in 1830 but can't seem to locate any information that will help to find his father or place of birth. I am grasping at straws here but what the heck!! We were interested/amazed to see a desk on the show made 1770 in Loudoun County by John Shearer, appraised for $45,000. It was for a "Sarah Millhollern" --we think it was Sarah Millhollan or Millholland"-- and are going to pursue that. The owner was one "Kate".. I will check with a local man who is researching Loudoun cabinet makers... Meaznwhile, you might check with MESDA, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts: in 1995 I asked for a printout of Northern Virginia Craftsmen, early 1700s to early 1800s and Shearer really should be there but maddeningly, somehow I am missing the 5 pages he should be listed in. Some years ago, they went to each county and did an exhaustive search for information of local craftsmen. They are a WONDerful resource. If you telephone them at 9910-721-7360 (They are in Winston Salem NC), and give them the name and location, I believe they can look him up on the spot. The only charge, at least six years ago, was for xeroxing at 10 cents a page for their infor and postage. Good luck. If I find anything more, I'll let you know.
