Aloha...if he was ever claimed by a Daughter of the American Revolution as her patriot, there would be alot of information on him at the DAR Hqtrs in washington. One way you can do this, if you can't get to Hqtrs. is to try going to dar.org and then go to "Dar Forms"...go to the bottom of the page..click on RGR 1000.....make a copy and send it in w/your check for $5.00! Takes 6 weeks. Happy Holidays to Hawaii from Michigan... Thank you Jan Sing for your suggestion. I have been in contact with the DAR recently in an attempt to discover if an ancestor is in their files - they are a very helpful and generous group. Since I have yet to receive the copies of the documents in their files I did not realize that they might have the pension data also. One thing that I did discover in my first search for DAR information is that they will conduct a search through e-mail (a reasonable amount of information must be supplied by the person making the request). For any other list members who may have determined that their ancestor has a strong possibility of having participated in the Revolutionary War go to http://www.dar.org/cgi-bin/natsociety/content.cfm?id=92&hd=n&pf=n and follow their directions for their lookup service. I really appreciate you taking the time to help! Now that the Patriot Index service is avail. online, it will help speed up the service...however each chapter normally maintains a 4 volume set of the Index books and sometimes names are there that don't seem to come up on the online search (too case sensitive or??)...so if you need any more kokua, don't hestiate to let us know...hope you'll become a Daugher soon! Best wishes and good luck...Jan Sing > -----Original Message----- > From: Susan McIntyre [mailto:sbmc2@chartermi.net] > Sent: Friday, December 14, 2001 12:10 PM > To: VALOUDOU-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [VALOUDOU-L] Revolutionary War Pensions > > > Happy Holidays to Hawaii from Michigan... > > Thank you Jan Sing for your suggestion.
