There is a Greenway in Clarke County. A lot of my relatives from Rappahannock moved there.
Are you sure it says "N" Spa? That might be a capital A for alias, or second, subpoena. Also, check the reverse of the subpoena to see if it was executed, and on whom? Maybe the N stood for not executed. It's really had to evaluate when you can't see the entire document. Those locations are in Clarke County, not Loudoun County. It is White Post and not White Port. Type those names into Google and you will see various locations for information. Wikipedia states: Greenway Court is an unincorporated community in Clarke County, Virginia, USA. Greenway Court lies to the south of White Post and takes its name from lodge of Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron, better known locally as "Lord Fairfax." His nephew, Thomas Bryan Martin, resided with him at Greenway Court as well. White Post is an unincorporated town in Clarke County, Virginia, USA. White Post is located at the crossroads of White Post and Berrys Ferry Roads off of Lord Fairfax Highway (U.S. Route 340). Can anyone tell me where these places were located and are they still called this today. Greenway and White Port district? In the 1880 census these district are mentioned. Which way from Berryville, Virginia are they? Are they located toward Boyce, Winchester, Leesburg or Charlestown and about how far from Berryville were they located? Thanks for your help. Dee

Hi Sue, Sp'a in the Order Books meant Subpeona - such as, "injunction granted, bond & sec'y given & sp'a. to issue." DS is Deputy Sheriff, with SFC as Sheriff Fauquier County If you look at page five of those documents on the Library of Virginia page is states Subpoena in Chancery and Injunction. On Saturday I posted a notice about two Hamilton bank ledger books at auction on ebay. This is to let list members know that a person has offered to bid on this book and donate it to Balch Library. Thanks to others who contacted me privately offering to do the same. Balch is looking forward to providing researchers with this resource if that bidder wins the auction. If anyone finds other such items on auction at any time that would enhance the Balch Library collection, please email me directly. Be advised that I am not an employee of Balch, but just a fellow researcher who appreciates the library collections. Pat Duncan GenNutLdn@msn.com
I trying to determine if Sterling A. LAWSON, b. 24 Sep 1904, d. 19 Nov 1983 in St. Petersburg, Florida (formally of Fairfax, Virginia), husband of Martha Weller LAWSON was the son of Sterling Murray LAWSON, b. abt 1871, Loudoun County, Virginia and Ida V. BENJAMIN, b. abt 1874, Virginia. Anyone researching that LAWSON family - I have info to share? Thanks, Mr. Carty Lawson Leesburg, Virginia
An excellent way to say thank you to the Balch library, which I've just done through purchase of "Index to the Tithables of Loudoun County, Virginia.
