I have a question/suggestion for those who go to cemeteries. Do any of you take GPS readings? When I met my second cousin in Perry Co., KY to visit cemeteries I took along my GPS. I took readings at the entrance of the cemetery and at the grave site. Now, the GPS receiver I had at the time could pinpoint to within 30 feet I think. I believe the ones they have out now are more accurate. The GPS reading could come in handy when visiting those "family cemeteries". I sent a GPS receiver to my second cousin to record readings of those cemeteries that have just a few graves in them. My gg grandparents, Walter C. Reeves b. Abt 1809 and d. 1872 and his wife Nancy (Last name unknown) b. 1810 were from Prince William County. I may have been thrown off by the Patterson name. I've been researching the Patterson Write connection to the Stephens/Stevens of Loudoun. My Myers was a Carrie Myers, daughter of Abraham and Florida Myers. She married Thomas Lee Mason Stephens in Loudoun in the later half of the 1800's. I'll be happy to share the Slater information I have. Feel free to contact me directly at ma.scott2@verizon.net. The immigrant was Jacob Schloetzer. He arrived with his son Jacob and probably the rest of the family in Philadelphia in Nov 7, 1754. I haven't been able to determine where he was from. He married a second time in 1757 and died in Chester Co, PA in 1770; his will listed him as a weaver. His children were Jacob, George, Rosina, Mary, and Martin. His son Jacob was somewhere near New Hannover/Limerick for a few years then moved to Loudoun Co in the late 1760's. His children who survived to adulthood were John, Jacob, Susanna, Elizabeth, and Christina. His wife was Susanna Habicht who was first married to Casper Spring. She had two sons from that marriage, Andreas and Frederick. Jacob's brother George and sister Rosina both died in Frederick Co. leaving no heirs. I don't know yet what happened to the brother Martin, but I'm looking into the Slatzer family who showed up around Perry, Ohio in the early 1800's. Go to Thomas Balch library, you can find it by googling Thomas Balch, it's the first thing that pops up. Then click on library resources. There is a link in the second item down for the cemetery records. You can search by name or cemetery.... although it is not a complete listing every cemetery or tombstone. Remember many old ones either didn't have anything on them.... some had just an initial like M, some can't be read at all anymore so just because you may not find what your looking for doesn't mean it's not there somewhere. There are cemeteries that were also family in nature and on old properties and overgrown but this site is great and has thousands of people.
