Just go to Search on you web page and then type in <Peaked Mountain Church> and you will get answers. Or just place it in the "address bar" and hit "enter" on your keyboard. I did that and it worked. There were lots of places to search. PLease help this lady if possible. Thank you Rena List ADM. ----- Original Message ----- From: Helen S. Gammon To: doreatr@rbnet.com Sent: Sunday, November 04, 2001 9:01 PM Subject: LOUDOUN COUNTY, VIRGINIA Can you help? In tracing my BARTLESON family in Philadelhia County, Pennsylvania I learned that MARY BARTLESON, daughter of BARTLE BARTLESON and ELIZABETH KNIGHT of Whitemarsh Twp. married JAMES FOX. and had several children born in Fort Loudoun, Virginia Colony, America in the 1740s, according to Kevin Wayne Quincy on WorldConnect. I believe BARTLESON FOX was a brother. I have not been able to reach Kevin to verify this. Bartle named James Fox as his son-in-law in his will in Feb. 1777, bequeathed 5 pounds to James and Mary and to each of their children. I also found on the LIbrary of Congress Website James Fox and family were living in Fort Loudoun, was helping to open the route from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. The forts had to be closed because of Indian uprisings. At age 82 I do not remember enough history to determine if THIS Fort Loudoun was the same one but was located in Virginia before Pennsylania was formed. And I have not been able to find that page again and do not know where else to look for an answer. Or were there two Fort Loudouns? I also found in 1687 JAMES FOX (probably his father), received a permit to lay out a "cart-road" from Philadelphia to Plymouth Meeting now known as the Germantown Pike. Thanks for your help. It would be great to have an answer. Helen Smith Gammon hsmithg@earthlink.net

Stephen and Susannah Thetford Peirce/Pierce were the parents of the following: Lewis Peirce 2-26-1783 John Peirce 11-11-1784 Lewis Peirce 9-3-1786 Caleb Peirce 9-11-1788 Abram Peirce 8-19-1790 Elizabeth Peirce 10-1-1792 Mary Peirce 2-7-1795 Stephen Peirce 3-5-1798 Aholiab Peirce 3-5-1801 Notes: The information comes from a Peirce/ Sullivan Bible. There were two Lewis Peirces because the first died young. The second did not live very long either but longer that the first. The first died in 1785 and the second in 1793. I know the names are very popular names of the New England Peirce?Pierces but I don't have any real information that my family stopped in New England - nor do I have information that they didn't. The family lore states that two older brothers came from Wales with 11 year old Aholiab so the older ones could fight in the war of 1812 and left Aholiab with a relative. The older brothers deserted the English army and settled in America. This leaves several questions unanswered such as did the parents come to this country? The Bible is very complete and one would surmise that the parents and other siblings were here where the Bible entries were written. That doesn't have to be true though. Anne in KY
Looking for info on my ancestor, John Andrew PHILLIPS, born in Lincoln Virginia on April 18, 1806. He moved to West Tennessee. He married Mary Elizabeth HAILEY. They had 8 children. Would appreciate information.
I am on a wild goose chase. My biggest brick wall is Pierce. They supposedly came from Wales. On census records and in family lore my William Pierce was born in MA as was his son Nathaniel. Wm born in 2nd half of 1700s and Nathaniel in 1790s. They ended up in OH in late 1700s or early 1800s- Washington/Athens/Meigs Cos. Do you have any other kin for Caleb and Aholiab Pierce? Those are very New England names. Dottie Austin Annept35@aol.com wrote: > I am new to the list and am researching family who left Virginia and came to Kentucky in early 1800s.
