    1. [VALOUDOU-L] North Fork Meeting House and others....
    2. Lois Masters
    3. Hello - Here are some Loudoun County locations I would really appreciate having identified. Tankersville Piedmont (1803) on the survey of Cap Robert Braden to Tankersville North Fork Meeting House (1831) Are the South Fork of Kittocton Creek and Little Kittocton Creek the same thing? (Please forgive if I butchered the spelling. Every deed has a different and unique spelling for Kittocton Creek) Where was Holmes Mill in 1835? On my 1757 map of Loudoun Co., there are two Beaver Dam entries. One is east of Ebenezer Church and west of Goose Creek. The second Beaverdam is North of Broad Run Church running South from Broad Run Bridge East of Goose Creek and West of Broad Run. How would I know which Beaver Dam /Beaverdam the deed referenced? Wright/Beall Connection Bronwen - Please forgive my delay in replying. Thanks so much for the information which you sent. I am in almost continual contact with Susan McIntyre and have shared information with Sue Beach...working on the descendants of Anthony Wright. Although I am a descendant through Anthony Wright of near Waterford (whose origins were in Bucks Co., Pa), my lineage is through other than the line involving Susan Byrne. We are attempting to document the Wrights in the Loudoun Co., Virginia area. Just out of curiosity, would you suppose that those black Wrights in the area of Waterford were descendants of Anthony Wright or his sons through slaves? Just from my memory, I do recall that Anthony had at least one slave. And in other branches of the Wright family, there was at least one instance of a male Wright owning numerous slaves (per Loudoun Co Deed Book). Thanks for sharing your information Lois -

    1. [VALOUDOU-L] Note from List adm. about NEW Virus
    2. Rena Worthen
    3. The newest virus is called W32Goner and info on it can be found at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.goner.a@mm.html You may go here for instructions on removal. I suggest you go here and jot down the instructions or print them. Again, you must open the attachment to become infected. On another note, I must explain that you cannot receive a virus msg thru or from the list. No Rootsweb list allows attachments on msgs. The process is triangular in nature - 1) Rena or anyone of you (point A) sends a msg to the list, which is then sent to all members via Rootsweb (point B). 2) JaneDoe (point C) who is infected and a member of the list, receives the msg via Rootsweb (point B). 3) The virus in Jane Doe's computer then immediately sends a msg from JaneDOE directly to Me (and everyone else in Jane's address book) containing the dreaded attachment. Jane's computer will attempt to send the virus msg to the list, IF Jane has the list addy in her address book, but it will not be accepted by Rootsweb because of the attachment. So you have A to B to C and back to A. What ends up in the Subject line has no bearing at all as to origin.

    3. 'Goner' Virus Infects Computers Worldwide Poses As a Screensaver Program By D. IAN HOPPER .c The Associated Press WASHINGTON (Dec. 4) - Anti-virus companies scrambled to protect their customers against a new viruslike e-mail attack Tuesday that purports to be a computer screen saver program. Security company McAfee reported thousands of its clients sent in copies of the worm, called 'Goner.' An Internet worm has the ability to spread to other computers on its own. ''It's very harmless looking,'' McAfee virus research manager April Goostree said. The e-mail has a subject line of ''Hi,'' and asks the user to check a screen saver program, which is attached. If the recipient runs the screen saver, the computer becomes infected. Like many e-mail attacks, it sends itself out to everyone in the victim's address book. It can also sends itself through the instant messaging program ICQ. In addition to ICQ, Goner affects only Microsoft's Outlook and Outlook Express e-mail programs on computers running Windows. Computer experts advise that people not open unexpected e-mail attachments, even if the sender is someone familiar. Computer users should update their antivirus software at least weekly. Goner also attempts to delete critical files for any security or anti-virus program the victim might have installed. McAfee has placed Goner on ''outbreak'' status. The last virus with that status was the ''Love Letter'' attack, which caused billions of dollars in damages worldwide. ''It's moving extremely quickly,'' Goostree said. ''We're getting hundreds and hundreds of samples in a very short time.'' Anti-virus companies received the first samples of Goner from Europe, particularly France and Germany. Ian Hameroff, a business manager at Computer Associates, said about 30 of its clients worldwide reported getting the worm. By Tuesday afternoon, several major anti-virus companies including McAfee and Symantec had released updates so their software can detect Goner. AP-NY-12-04-01 1258EST Ruth
