    3. That could be possible. John is a common name in my family. So, do you know what his last name is, or do you think it could be either ALEXANDER or STEPHENS? The children are not listed again in a census, so I don't know what happened to them. Unless they died, but then there should be some kind of death record. Thanks, and who knows!!! Anything is possible. 3. Please let me correct some mis-information. Jefferson was never part of Loudoun. It was created in 1801 from Berkeley County. Neither was Hampshire County part of Loudoun. The mother county of Berkeley (and therefore, Jefferson) and Hampshire, and several other western counties was Frederick County, established about 1738. Loudoun was created from Fairfax; Fairfax from Prince William; PW from Stafford. Loudoun is not, nor ever was part of the Shenandoah Valley, although we had settlers from the Valley who decided they were too close to the Indians so came back over the mountain and across the river into Loudoun county. 2. Julie, There was only one Allbritton ... John who entered from Goochland. Did you want me to look for Daniel and Humphrey Allbritton or the surnames of Daniel and Humphrey? There are 16 Humphreys and and 14 Daniels . SO I will need further clarification. I do not type very quickly so if you could narrow it down I could be more efficient Susan

    3. Hi list! I am currently focusing on trying to find two unknown children who were born before 1810 with the last name of ALEXANDER. My third great grandfather had 9 children, but two are unknown. One was a boy, and the other was a girl. My third great grandfathers name was Hathaway ALEXANDER. He was living next door to a Charles ALEXANDER at the time. Which they could be father and son, or brothers. My question is, who are these two unknown children, and what is the relationship between Charles and Hathaway? I hope that someone else has the ALEXANDER surname, because I am completely lost. Thanks to all in advance! Suzanne

    3. Happy Holidays to Hawaii from Michigan... Thank you Jan Sing for your suggestion. I have been in contact with the DAR recently in an attempt to discover if an ancestor is in their files - they are a very helpful and generous group. Since I have yet to receive the copies of the documents in their files I did not realize that they might have the pension data also. One thing that I did discover in my first search for DAR information is that they will conduct a search through e-mail (a reasonable amount of information must be supplied by the person making the request). For any other list members who may have determined that their ancestor has a strong possibility of having participated in the Revolutionary War go to http://www.dar.org/cgi-bin/natsociety/content.cfm?id=92&hd=n&pf=n and follow their directions for their lookup service. I really appreciate you taking the time to help! 3. I am hoping that someone on the list will be able to help me with a question about documents. I can verify that a Loudoun Co. VA resident was a "Revolutionary War Pensioner" in the year 1840 when he died at age 80. The application that he filled out offers no information about his family but I was wondering if it was possible that the wife that survived him would continue to receive payments and if so where such documents might be found. I did check the LVA online pension information and did not find him listed although I did find him in the "1840 Census of Pensioners" at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/topic/colonial/census/1840/index.html (in case anyone else is looking for such information). Any help or direction that you have to offer would be gratefully accepted, Susan McIntyre

Tankersville Piedmont (1803) on the survey of Cap Robert Braden to Tankersville North Fork Meeting House (1831) Are the South Fork of Kittocton Creek and Little Kittocton Creek the same thing? (Please forgive if I butchered the spelling. Every deed has a different and unique spelling for Kittocton Creek) Where was Holmes Mill in 1835? On my 1757 map of Loudoun Co., there are two Beaver Dam entries. One is east of Ebenezer Church and west of Goose Creek.
