    3. There are 3 Jacob Shoemakers in the DAR Patriot Index...a Jacob born in Germany and who died c1805,in Virginia, married to a Catherine ___. also, 2 Jacobs from Pennsylvania; one whose wives were Elizabeth, and another whose wife was Magdalena. Since this edition, there are many more patriots identified...therefore, if you wish you can go to www.dar.org Then go to forms, and at the bottom, copy the form for lineage requests....send in $5. and try to identify your Shoemaker by his birth date and/or place,in the places provided, and especially his spouse name...it takes 6 weeks once you send it in...Aloha, J.Sing, Founding Regent, Hawai'i Loa Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. > -----Original Message----- > From: Tootsie [mailto:thelma1@ameritech.net] > Sent: Saturday, January 12, 2002 8:17 AM > To: VALOUDOU-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [VALOUDOU-L] Revolutionary War Pensions > > > Susan, > Do you have a way to look up surnames that were in the REV? > > If so and if you have time is there any Shoemaker's in it. 3. Susan, Do you have a way to look up surnames that were in the REV? If so and if you have time is there any Shoemaker's in it. One I have listed is Jacob Shoemaker and seems they should have been in Loudoun Co. but I am not sure. Thank for your time. Tootsie Shoemaker T. 1. [VALOUDOU-L] HARRIS
    2. Susan J Lewis
    3. Grace, I was hoping Jordan and Hadden's Genealogical and Personal History of Fayette County would answer your question but it isn't always that simple. It does contain a writeup on the Asa/Elizabeth HARRIS family (Asa is the 5th generation it traces) and it names the same four children for the couple; then gives info only on the Samuel line. The only further info it gives, and this may be very helpful to you, is that John was active in the War of 1812. One would presume if John lived till 1860 he drew a pension and can thus be identified as the Georges Township John if indeed they were the same person. Suggest you request his military paperwork from NARA, but don't expect a quick response because of the anthrax scare. Regards, Susan Joy Lewis >Asa HARRIS (b 1762 CT; d. VA) and his wife, Elizabeth WRIGHT had >children born in Loudoun County, VA. Children included: Samuel b. 1780; >John b. ca 1782; Anthony b. ca 1784; Ruth b. ca 1786. 2. No, I don't believe so. I merely looked-up a request for information contained in a book I purchased. Most of my people were from Virginia, perhaps, migrated to West Virginia, and certainly to Ohio and Pennsylvania. Jane
