South Dakota . Georgia . New York . Texas . Illinois . North Carolina Don't we all wish it existed. Ruthie

    3. Dranesville: My ancestors Nicholas & Jane Farr and some of their family were buried at Dranesville Methodist. Luckily, their gravestones still stand. If you have ancestors in the Dranesville area, I suggest you look at two old ledgers at the Virginia Historical Society, that are from the Dranesville area. One is from 1841 to 1842, the other (kept by a Dr.) dates from 1853-1889. See: http://vhs3.vahistorical.org/cgi-bin/starfinder/28016/x.starmarc.txt For example, I found that Nicholas had bought a toothbrush back in 1842, among many other items. And in the Dr.'s book, there's notations of sicknesses and births and all kinds of cool genealogical/historical stuff. Dranesville was off and on in both Loudoun and Fairfax, so check out the Fairfax county chancery records for more genealogical goodies. Tom Bishop

    3. I'm in Carrollton, Missouri a long ways from Loudoun Co. I would also like to have the address of the Court House so that I can obtain a copy of the Marriage License of Levi Jenkins and Mary Ann Hickman married Sept. 21, 1814. Is there a list somewhere of the early marriages of either Fairfax Co or Loudoun Co. before 1814.-Since there was between 15 to 20 years gap between Mary Ann Hickman's age and Levi Jenkins age, I wonder if maybe he was married before. This Levi has been our brick wall for a long long time. When was Loudoun Co formed from Fairfax County. As you can see I don't know much about Loudoun Co, Va. I have been going through the cemetery sites and it seems that very few old cemeteries in either Fairfax or Loudoun have very many stones left. Was there a newspaper back that far 1814 or before. Any help you can give would be appreciated. 2. While I am a Tennessee native and the great, great grandson of William Harris Jenkins and wife Jemima Hugley or Hughley who are both buried here in Tenn., I was going through some records others have done, regarding a great, great uncle's line, (Charles Tyler or Tiler Jenkins) and found this info that may be of some remote help to you, to wit: "Tabbie Jenkins, daughter of Sarah C. and Henry Jenkins, Mar.13,1854-May 8,1860, buried at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Fairfax, Va. (Gt. Falls and Old Chain Bridge Road) Notice:Alexandria Gazette & Virginia Advertiser, May 12,1860.: Lewinsville, FFX Va. on Sunday Evening the 6th Inst. of Scarlet fever, Tabitha A., eldest daughter of Henry and Sarah C. Jenkins, in the 7th year of her age. A substantial eulogy follows to this "Sweet, amiable, intelligent and loving, this dear child........". So that will at least point out one cemetery for you. 3. Dranesville United Methodist Church is in Fairfax County. Dranesville is now part of Reston. I have ancestors buried there. On my last visit, many of the old tombstones were gone and the church is trying to restore what they can. Dranesville is located off Route 7 at the intersection of Route 7 and Route 193 (AKA Georgetown Pike), about a mile from the Loudoun County/Fairfax County border. TO get to the church take Route 7 to Sugarland Run Road. The church sits on a hill above route 7. ALso, they have a web site. I have emailed the pastor several times trying to determine if they have a list of people buried there, but have not had any luck. Hope this helps. 3. Did anyone respond? I missed it if someone did. There may have been a Loudoun Times Mirror around that time frame, and I wonder ifyou have checked out the Historical Newspaper link that is found on the Fairfax Co USGenWeb page.
