As suggested, here is a reminder from our Templer Family website of our oldest Loudoun County, VA, family ties. The Templer family traces their roots to James Templer, b. about 1755 in Shelbourne Parish, Loudoun County, d. after 1846 in Virginia. James Templer married Martha Huff on 31 August 1775 in Loudoun County, Virginia. Martha Huff was b. about 1755 and d. after 1840. Nothing is known at this time about the parents of these two people. An old family history, published in 1894, includes the story that the family name was Temple and that the 'r' was added about 1750. A later writing in 1939 added the story that the 'r' was added because of a dispute in the family. Nonetheless, we would be interested in talking to anyone in a Temple or Templer family who has information that might make a connection to the parents of James Templer. We would also very much like to find death and burial information for James and Martha. James Templer and Martha Huff had 7 or 8 children depending on how you interpret various census data. Those were: · William Templer (b. 29 December 1775, d. 24 October 1854) · John J. (or Jonathon) Templer (abt 1777 or 1778) - may be two people · James Templer (abt 1779) · Esther Templer (abt 1780) · Martha Templer (abt 1781) · Stacey Templer (b. 1782, d. 29 October 1864) · Thomas Templer (b. 1787, d. after 1850) For additional information on the first six generations and other details, check our family website at: http://www.geocities.com/templerfamily Appreciate any pieces of information that will help in our search. Ancestors of John Alexander Stephens Generation No. 1 1. John Alexander Stephens, born December 21, 1811 in Leesburg, Loudoun County, Va; died April 05, 1872 in Loudoun, Co, Va. He married (1) Roxanna Burgess October 07, 1839 in Loudoun Co, Va. She was born June 21, 1821 in Virginia, Fairfax, and died February 03, 1895 in Germantown, Md. She was the daughter of William Burgess and Margaret ?. Notes for John Alexander Stephens: John Alexander Stephens/Stevens was by trade a house painter. He and his wife Roxanna (Roxie) (Roseanna) lived at one point on the Fulton farm which is in Loudoun county, Va near Sycoline which is a long road and a creek. The farm was named "Greenfield" and is 360 acres located 4 miles south of Leesburg on "Old Carolina Trail" There is suppose to be a old church somewhere in the area. I'm anxious to know if John Stephens parents or Roxanna's parents are buried close by. I have no hint on who the parents of John may be. Families that may be associated with them could be Clagett, Myers, Lowe, Burgess, Mason, Ault, Talbott, Smallwood, Hull, Downs, Berry, Fouch, Fouche. Unconfirmed notes. The Shackelfords, Kings and Stephens were all found in Loudoun, SPotslyvania, and before that in Caroline co. They are all related to the General Richard Henry Stephens family. Unconfirmed notes. I am looking for ancestors and connections to the WISSINGER surname in this area in the late 1700's and 1800's. Spelling variations include: WISINGER, WIESINGER, WIESSINGER, WEISINGER, WEISSINGER, WISENGER, WHISNER, etc. The immigrant family settled in the Frederick Co., Md. area in 1740. Some evidence of this surname has been found in Charles Town, Ransom and Harper's Ferry areas and I have been trying to piece together the connections with little luck. So, any information would be helpful and I am more than happy to share my data with others. Regards, Bob Wissinger Perrysburg, Ohio
Penny, first names and dates on your surnames would help. we are looking at 300 years at least, I have 4 of your names, in my data base, but would not venture to guess whom you seek. maybe someone has info on Lawrence. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Lawrence To: doreatr@rbnet.com Sent: Sunday, April 28, 2002 1:32 PM Subject: Lawrence Dear Friends: I already have information (thanks to Pat Duncan) on Moses Lawrence's estate appraisal in Loudon County, but would be interested in information on any other Lawrences, including Ishmael, Bagwell, etc. I think this may be the lost link in my line. I can only go back as far as 1755 with the birth of William, and his son, John William, on Sept. 8, 1775. These people apparently moved from Virginia to Tennessee in the late 18th century and then to the Mississippi territory and the Florida Parishes of Louisiana in the early 19th century. I am descended from 1775 John's son, Simpson Moses, born 1816 in Tennessee. Thanks, Bob Lawrence

Then they moved to Shenandoah Co, VA. Family papers listed John Adams Beaty as being the son of Andrew Beaty who came to PA from Ireland and ended up in Loudoun Co where he raised a large family. Andrew's wife was Sarah Adams from Loudoun Co. I'm trying to find any sign of this Andrew from Ireland and Sarah's family. Thanks, Cindy

Hello, Looking for any information as to John GIBSON - shown on a 1760 reconstructed map by Beth Mitchell - as owning (blurred) 109 or 209 acres near the boundary of Loudoun County/ Fairfax County Line. Learning more about John Gibson may reveal more about my family; The Fairfax County Personal Property tax list for 1787 lists Lewis Pritchart on List B. His entry appears next to Philip Pritchert and John Gibson is charged for the tax. Lewis Pritchart is entered in another Fairfax list paying his own tax. The Lewi Pritchart in reference owned 250 acres on Johnny Morre Creek very close to the Loudoun County Line. He was born 1748 and married Frances Mason (unknown Mason connection as of this writing). Lewis Pritchett/art was son of also Lewis Pritchett and Mary Lattimore. early 1700's. Mary's father John Lattimore purchased 200 ares from a Thomas Furr 1734. Trying to track land ownerhsip as to possible family connections. The John Gibson mentioned seems to hold alot of land in several counties. Any clues welcome, Anne
