Hi, I'd like to communicate with anyone who has Hogeland ancestors in Loudoun or Fauquier counties. The Hogeland's migrated from New Jersey and before that from the Netherlands in Europe. Other spellings include Hoagland, Hooghlandt, etc. Valerie
Hi Folks, I'm looking for information about Harrison Jenkins and his descendants. He was born about 1810 VA and possibly died 1875 in Dranesville, Loudoun/Fairfax Co., VA. I found him in the 1870 census for Loudoun Co., living near Farmwell. He and his wife, Delilah, had the following children: Nancy, Allen, Elijah, Rebecca, Harrison, William, Sampson, and Nellie. There may also have been two other daughters, Ellen and Virginia. I already have the information from Amelia Gilreath's Jenkins books and Patricia Duncan's Loudoun County books. Valerie
Hi, One of my in-laws had a cousin named Anna Elgin of Washington, DC (m. Bell of TN). She died in 1984. Her brother, Roger, died in 1990 in The Plains, VA. There was also a sister in SC. Among other relatives she had nephews, Tom and William. I'd like to know who were her parents. I downloaded several Elgin files from WorldConnect/Ancestry that pertain to the Elgins of Loudoun and Fauquier counties, but can't quite figure who her parents were, for sure. She was 88 years old at her death. Valerie
I only have one mystery family in Loudoun County, that is AMBROSE. They were in Loudoun from 1850 to after 1870. If anyone is researching the name, please contact me. Thanks, Mary Anne msutphin@tcia.net
It's a rainy overcast day here in Michigan so I welcome the list administrator's suggestion of posting the oldest generations - here are mine... first generation documented in Loudoun - 1) William DIVINE (first appears in 1768 tithables -likely related to James DEVINE who appears in the 1761 tithables). William was married to Rachel (possibly BONHAM). next generations documented in Loudoun a) Bonham DIVINE (1765-1855) married to Hannah BURGOYNON in 1793 Loudoun. b) Aaron DIVINE (1781-1864) married to Nancy SURGENOR (1787-1841) in 1805 Loudoun. c) Jacob DIVINE (1784-1863) married to Judith BOGUE (1790-1830) in 1811 Loudoun. d) William DIVINE (1792-1884) married to Maria BOGUE (1793-1856) in 1815 Loudoun. e) there is also possibly a second William DIVINE (wife Catherine) and a Joseph DIVINE (wife Margaret) who originate in Loudoun that I am investigating. Uphama DIVINE born 1787 daughter of Sarah DIVINE also appear in Loudoun documents. I am also trying to straighten out the HURDLE/HURDELL family connected to Loudoun as related to Nolan/d HURDLE born about 1795 died 1826. He had married Nancy WRIGHT about 1823 and had two daughters - Ann Nolan/d and Pleasant/Catherine. Although I can document various HURDLE's in Loudoun I cannot seem to link Nolan/d Hurdle to any of them. Any help or advice that is offered will be gratefully accepted, Susan McIntyre
I have Bayne Smallwood who married Marsylvia Coe he was born 1740 and died 1820 in Loudoun.
I can attest to that. I was just wondering if by some chance it really is Simons, that may explain a theory I have if thats the case.
Jack: According to Marstellers Burson Index : Isaiah Burson, son of James and Mary Kregan Burson, was born in 1777, married Hannah Spencer (1770-1866) in 1803 and died in Kalamazoo Co, Michigan in 1855. Isaiah and Hannah were the parents of Rachel (1803/4) who married Mr Lanning; Thirza (1805-1855) who married Solomon B. Cobb; Jonah (1806) who married (1) Jane McHenry in 1828 and (2) Rebecca Pine in 1849 and died in Kankakee Co, Il in 1869; Maria (1811) who married John Morris abt 1830 in Short Creek MM, Jefferson Co, Ohio; and, Ann (1812). Hope this is of interest. Remember, the LDS CD-ROMs are actual census records transcribed by people - and to err is human...reading the handwriting makes helps the names get jumbled up.
