Thank you Marty, We found Annie Tribby her obit which was in the Loudoun Times Mirror, said she was buried at New Jerusalem Cemetery at Lovettsville. Thank you for your help. The Thomas Balch Library. Mariyn
continuing the search for Jane Anne Frye--- Marilyn Marlow added: "She lived on Shorthill mountain. Is that near the Maryland boarder." You need a map. Yes the Shorthill crosses the Potomac and continues into Maryland. If she lived over there you might try St. Paul's Lutheran, or Ebenezer Methodist cemetery. Have you contacted Balch library for a search of the county-wide cemetery data base? Keep in mind it will only list those burials marked with inscribed headstones. Do you have this woman's death certificate? It should say exactly where she was buried. You can order one from Richmond. Then search for her obituary. Willow Bend Books sells the inscriptions found at Lovettsville Union Cemetery. Once you get past Jane Anne and Charles Luther Fry, you'll probably find other relatives identified in "Those At Rest, Lovettsvile Union Cemetery." Price is $20, I think. Go to www.willowbend.net. Search "Virginia" then "Loudoun County" for many titles of interest. 2nd) if you don't find them there, don't forget to search at Mt. Olivet, The German Reformed Cemetery (not in Mower's book, sorry) and Jefferson Co., West Virginia burials. 3rd) There is a large cemetery in Brunswick, Maryland. I don't know the exact name, but it could also have people from Lovettsville interred within its walls. Hello. I'm researching the Nichols family as well. My interest is Dinah Nichols who married George Walters. Their son Thomas is my line. She died in 1838 in Loudoun. Anyone researching this line?
Marilyn: Sorry she's not listed either way. I think last buriel in New Jerusalem was in 1943. No Tribby listed either. Shelvy

Marilyn: I didn't completely answer your query about the Lovettsville Union and New Jeruselem cemeteries......They are definetly two different cemeteries side by side.New Jeruselem has older graves with none being added since the middle to late 40's. My husband's family is in the Union cemetery and we visited in September 2000 and May 2001. I acquired the New Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery book and St. James United Church of Christ Church Register of Loudoun County ca. Sept 1789-Aug 1823 translated from German to English by Jerry and Tedi Jeen Mower during the September 2000 visit. They are both very interesting. Willing to share info from either. Shelvy

Since this is the Loudoun list, I'll reply with a bit about my grandmother who was raised right on the Loudoun and Clarke line, straddling the Blue Ridge. She was a LLOYD. Her name was Edith Savannah and she was born in 1889. No, I didn't name any of my children after her ;-) She was a big boned woman and strong as an ox. I remember her in stern dark dresses, sensible shoes and an apron. Her hair was gray and she wore it back in a bun. A totally self-sufficient woman, she could wring the neck off a chicken in a heartbeat and could chop wood equal to the men. To this day they are still fishing our family silver out of the creek where she would sling it out with the wash water. Yet, she could also be very much the gentle woman. It's been forty years but I can still smell her biscuits that she cooked in her wood burning stove. This was 1960 and she still insisted on using a wood burning oven. I have her old oak dining room table - my pride and joy - with five leaves that seats 10 easily and 12 in a pinch. Many a grand meal was served around that table, I'm told. A few years before she died - when her vision became really bad - I remember a huge blacksnake making its way towards her house. She called to my mother and asked "Which end is its tail?" My Mom pointed out the tail end of the snake and grandma bent over, picked it up [it was at least 4 feet long, it drug the ground], and calmly strolled over to a nearby stump. There she slung that snake like a whip into that stump, over and over and over until she had beat it to death. She then tossed it in the woods, wiped her hands on her apron and proceeded back to her cooking. How I adore those wonderful mountain women! Happy Mother Day to All ~ Sandy
Ok. My Grandmother lived in Grafton, WV, where Mother's Day was founded. She attended Andrews Methodist Church, also where Mother's Day was founded, and knew Ann Jarvis the founder of Mother's Day. She says that Ann Jarvis was very mean to her mother. I think that she may have founded Mother's Day out of guilt, because of the way she treated her mother. Anyway, just a little tidbit. I don't know if this story is true, but I have to believe my Grandmother.
