It was then that this 34-acre area known as Seven Corners was rezoned from suburban to general business. Frederick Foote, a black man with white and Indian blood, had purchased 34 acres for $500 in 1864. In his will, he directed that the land must remain in the family and never be sold. The annual taxes on the property grew to tremendous proportions. However, his descendants obtained a release from the will's provision and sold the acreage for $750,00. 1. [VALOUDOU-L] Leonard Thomas deed lookup request
    2. Susan Bellinger
    3. Hi, Does anyone have a book containing abstracts of early deeds in Loudoun County and would be willing to do a lookup for me? I'm interested in a early deed between Leonard Thomas (who was deceased by Oct. 1824) and someone named (possibly) P. Carvins. It was a 999 year lease of land but I have no idea where it was located in Loudoun Co. The land was divided after Thomas' death between his heirs, and Ann Thomas was given Lot # 3. She sold her interest in the lot to John S. Pearce in a deed dated 18 Oct. 1824. It'll be a long time before I get back to the Leesburg courthouse, so I'm hoping that SKS will help me out. I'd really like to know the location of the land. Thanks in advance. Susan B. PS Would love to contact anyone researching the Thomas surname in the late 18th and early 19th century in Loudoun Co. Please email me privately. Thanks.

    3. If you go to the USGenWeb rootsweb site for Loudoun Co there is a link to the Thomas Balch Library. If you email them, they will probably give you the list, or look for the names you are researching in that cemetery...and may even help you with more info... The Thomas Balch Library is an excellent source for genealogical things in Loudoun County. And the staff is extremely helpful and courteous. There also is a Lookup link on the Loudoun page, and it contains offers by volunteers all over the country who will look through their reference books.
