Mimi, I wonder if Anna Barbara is who I have as Barbara Shoemaker...........d/o Daniel and Maria Elizabeth HOLMAN? I have Daniel and Maria Elizabeth m. 1 Feb. 1757 in Frederick Co. MD. I don't know where to write to ask for any of these early MD records or if you can get them. This Daniel was a brother to Jacob (my line) or one of the six brothers. Tootsie
Tootsie, My husband Russell Baker, son of George D Baker who was the son of Daniel Baker had a cousin ,who died recently, named Meredith Baker daughter of Edgar McLinn Baker and Bessie V. Cooper. Meredith married Leo Shumaker (parents not in my file). They had Carolyn Shumaker who married Charles Compher and a son Ronnie Shumaker who married Ruth??? According to my genealogy program my husband is 1st cousin once removed,4th cousin once removed and 5th cousin once removed to Meredith Baker Shumaker's children. See how complicated this gets? Michael Cooper,Russell Baker's 4th great grandfather had a daughter Charlotte Cooper who married ???? Shoemaker. Her brother Jacob Cooper married Anna Barbara Shoemaker. They had nine children. I think that a name that ends in erin means that the person referred to is female. Hope this helps Mimi
Dear Susan: How kind of you to do this. I am looking for information on John Wilson who was married to Elizabeth Travers Chinn daughter of Rawleigh Chinn and Francis Tarpley. They are descended from the founder CHINN of Chinn's Crossroads, etc. It is said they married in Frederick MD but can't find anything there and hoping it might be Frederick VA. They married 1796 Please look in the following books: John Alexander a Northern Neck Proprietor Frederick Co Marriages 1738-1850 Marriage Records of Virginia St. Library If you have any questions please e-mail me at JRay38s@aol.com
Mimi, I have the "St. James United Church of Christ Church Register (Reformed Church) Loudoun County, Virginia ca Sept 17, 1789-August 23, 1823" translated from German to English by Jerry and Tedi Jeen Mower. This is the book I found my ggggrandfather's birth Adam Schumacher s/o Daniel and Catherine Oechslein/Exline and godparents, Adam Oechslein and wife. It appears to me they have used the German spellings of surnames. In this book there are 32 pages with the spelling of Becker; 2 pages mention BECK; 2 pages mention BECKERIN; 4 pgs. mention BECKERN; 1 pg. BECKERS; 1 pg. BEK; 2 pg. BEKER; 1 pg. BEKERIN. I am sure this just confuses the situation. I found 25 pgs. mention SCHUMACHER; 1 pg. SHOEMAKER and various other spellings. My family spelled the original name as Schumacher.......and by the time they were in Bedford and Somerset Co. PA it was Shoemaker. Oechslein was Exline/Axline by the time they were in Bedford and Somerset. Co. PA. Tootsie

Mini, Yes but the original spelling for Baker was BECTER. I have Juliana m. to Philip Becter/Baker and having a daughter Barbara b. 30 March 1772, christened at Evangelical Reformed Church, Fredrick, MD 28 May 1772. I don't have the information documented. I have been collecting my Shoemaker information and am in the process of trying to document it. Juliana, is the sister to 6 brothers Martin; Peter; Daniel; Simon; Jacob (my line), Bartholomew, and George. You a "cousin"? Tootsie Shoemaker T.
