am researching the PULLIN family line. I have Loftus or Loftis PULLIN born approximately 1718, place unknown. Loftus settled in present day Highland Co., VA in approximately 1845. He was married to Ann Jane USHER in about 1750. His death was in 1802 as recorded in Bath Co., VA will records. Looking for any information on his parents, siblings or information on his wife Ann Jane USHER. I have a brief online reference to marriages of her sisters Margaret USHER to William STUART and Martha USHER to Col. James DICKERSON with a mention of Loudoun Co., VA. Can anyone help with any further information? Thanks.

I have not read all those messages with the same subject line, "Maps" but wonder if anyone mentioned that the 1853 Yardley Taylor map was a subscription map. In order to have his name placed on the map, a man had to pay Mr. Taylor. There were many land owners who didn't choose to part with cash just so their name would be on that map. The map is a wonderful aid to our research, but please don't despair if your ancestor's name isn't found there on. I purchased my copy of the 1853 Yardley Taylor Map many years ago and do not remember where. Maybe someone else on the list knows where it is currently being sold, if it is still in print. Pat Duncan p.duncan@worldnet.att.net Betty Warren wrote: > > thanks, I'd like to get a copy of this map. >

Only Orrison is J. Orrison, District 7, west side of Catoctin Mountain - SSW of Waterford and just north of Catoctin Creek. If you have further questions, please email me directly. Thanks Pat. That would be my Rawleigh Chinn. I'll see about getting a copy. Janean
I am curious about this map you speak of. Are you saying it has locations of families on it? My family in Loudoun would be the CHINN's of Middleburg. If so, I would be very interested in seeing this map. Janean
The map being referred to is the map of Loudoun by surveyor Yardley Taylor, circa 1853. It does show many of the larger landholders in the county. Entries indicate the first name of the landholder with only an initial. Balch Library has a list of the names which appear on the map, compiled by David J. O'Connor. The map delineates the ten districts in the county, showing towns, P.O. locations and major landmarks. This map does show R. S. Chinn just west of Middleburg. This is the only Chinn listed.
