    3. The following comes from Pat Duncan and is from her book Index to Loudoun county Land Deed Books A-Z 1757 to 1800....I am researching the Rightmire family at a very slow pace...Wondered if your Samuel Russell might have a connection to Albert Russell who apparently leased to James Rightmire...I beleive their were Rightmire's in Buck's County Pa also although I do not know the connection to the small band of Rightmire's who were in Loudoun County from abt 1875 to 1800...(In fact that is my quest...to which Rightmire family were the Loudoun Co Rightmires connected ?...) Bk:Pg: O:415 Date: 1 Sep 1785 Recorded in court: 12 Sep 1785 Albert RUSSELL & wife Melea of Loudoun to James RIGHTMIRE of Loudoun. Lease of 200ac adj Capt. Joseph LEWIS. Wit: Jos. 1. Re: Quaker Russells
    2. One of the possible scenarios is Samuel Russell or Samuel Russel as a Quaker and left the church. He indeed did marry Sarah Hatcher, and her father William Hatcher in his will left large estates for his children except Sarah Russell ten shillings and no further explanation. Samuel like Sarah could of both been from Bucks County and he a Quaker no longer associated with the church. In his case not even mentioned in a will , disowned by his family. So unless I can find Quaker Russells who claim him my best bet is not a Quaker Russell. In a message dated 10/12/2005 8:00:47 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Here's a thought for your consideration. You say Samuel Russell was known to be in Bucks Co., PA and then Loudoun Co., VA, you might check to see if he was a Quaker. Because Bucks County was settled in large part by Quakers, and many of them left PA to settle in Loudoun County, particularly in the Waterford, VA area. If this was the case, his port of entry probably was Philadelphia, since practically all of the Bucks County people came in there.

    3. Some most likely came in between Delaware and New Jersey through Baltimore MD down into Washington DC area and into Virginia. Mine came in through the Chesapeake area (Virginia Beach area). My earliest were in the counties of Middlesex, Lancaster, Richmond, Westmoreland, etc and made their way up through Prince William Co. into Loudoun. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2005 7:17 PM Subject: [VALOUDOU-L] Querry: Immigration from Overseas 1730-1770 > 1. 2. I would bet he came in through the port of Philadelphia, commonly used in those days. Settlers, then in eastern PA, migrated in large numbers to Loudoun and other northern VA counties. Gloria in MD [email protected]

    3. This is a loooong shot, but recently I have been told that in a chancery suit (unknown date, number, etc.) a statement was made which clarified the birthplace of my ggggg grandfather, JONATHAN McARTOR, and his wife MARY ?? as being Glasgow, Scotland, about 1750. (I said it was a long shot.) The only clue I have is that the RILEY family was involved in that suit. So, if that strikes a chord with any RILEY researcher, I would LOVE to know. Thanks, Bob McArtor

Hello all, I received this poem from another mailing list and thought someone on this list might enjoy as I have. Fran Dear Ancestor, Your tombstone stands among the rest, neglected and alone, The name, the date, are chiseled out in weather-beaten stone. It reaches out for all to see, it is too late to mourn, You did not know I would exist, you died and I was born. Yet each of us are part of you, in flesh, in blood, in bone, And in my breast there beats a pulse entirely not my own. Dear ancestor, the space you left those many years ago Is filled today by all of us who would have loved you so. I wonder if you laughed and loved, I wonder if you knew that someday I would find this place and come to visit you. ==== VALOUDOU Mailing List ==== The First Sunday in each month will set aside for a "Brick Wall" Roll Call.
