Clyde, Sorry, but I'm only in the Oxley family for one generation. Although I have an interest, I have done very little research on the Oxley's. The only thing I have (so far) on the children is: Patience b-11/9/1761 m. Henry Saunders; Bethany b-1/14/1749m. ?? Rice; Jesse b-12/4/1755m. unknown; Britten b-3/19/1755 m. unknown; Sarah b-5/16/1757 m. unknown; Mary "Polly" b-7/29/1759 m. John S. Saunders; Ede b-9/11/1767 m. unknown; Evritt b-9/11/1767 m. unknown. I'll plug in Ann's name and add her to my research. Can you add anything else - names, dates, places, etc.? Hello - I continue to seek a connection between William Sample, born 1789 in Loudoun County, with James and Sarah Sample. The couple appear to have been the only Sample family in Loudoun country at the time. By 1812 William Sample was in Kaskaskia, Illinois, where in that year he married Nancy Preston, also of Virginia. In early 1817 the couple settled near Belleville, Illinois where they farmed until his death in 1844. The grave stone states he was born 19 November 1789 in Loudoun County, Virginia. Any related information would be very welcome. Tom Davis
Just glancing at "Early Church Records Of Loudoun County Virginia 1745-1800" by Marty Hiatt there are several Sarah HATCHERs and William HATCHERs at both Fairfax Monthly Meeting and Goose Creek Monthly Meeting, along with several RUSSELLs but no Robert. Does your HATCHER family descend from William HATCHER: Birth : 1614 England; Death : 1 Apr 1680 Henrico County, VA? If so I would like to exchange information on the Hatcher family. If you would like all of the HATCHER and RUSSELL information from the above book, I can transcribe it this weekend and send it to you. I am seeking the early meeting records of the Quaker community of Goose Creek, Loudoun County, Virginia . This community was founded from settlers of both Bucks and Chester Counties of Virginia. Additionally quaker meeting records from Bucks County.. The original settlement involved the Land grants of 1074 acres by William Digges and what is known today as Digges Valley or the "Quaker Settlement" .on 27 August 1731 and William Boswell 602 acres that same day and 1092 acres to George Atwood 24 September 1737. My ancestor Robert Russell (1725-1806) married Sarah Hatcher, daughter of William Hatcher, born Abt. 1704 in Bucks Co, PA; died Abt. 14 May 1781 in Goose Creek, Loudoun Co, VA. He married 21. Ann Van Sandt 13 Nov 1727 in Burlington Co, NJ. Ann Van Sandt, born Abt. 1705 in Bucks Co, PA; died Abt. 1779 in Loudoun Co, VA. It is believed that Robert may or may not be a Quaker it is known that he too came to Loudoun County, Va. from Bucks Co, Pennsylvania. He definetly married a quaker, his neighbors and friends were quakers , he attended several Quaker weddings. Therefore I am looking for early Quaker meeting records in Bucks County and Loudoun County. Thank you!!

Anyone connected to the Lowes and Stephens/Stevens families from Loudoun cir mid to late 1800's?
I'm not sure where my Saunders/Samders folks lived, but the description in the deed to some of the land that Margaret bought around 1805 and later willed to her children indicates it was on the Beaver Dam branch of Kittoctan Creek. That puts it between and perhaps a little west of Leesburg and Lovettsville. I don't have a Lee A. Saunders in my records but my records for this family are not very complete. We may have distant kin in common. Kathe --- [email protected] wrote: > I have Saunders and Coopers in my Loudoun line. I > am a direct decendant of > both. I have Saunders and Coopers in my Loudoun line. I am a direct decendant of both. My grandfather was Raymond Saunders and grandmother was Helen Lovetta Cooper. My Saunders were in Ashburn (aka, Farmwell, aka, Broad Run). The Coopers, while spread over much of Loudoun, Leesburg. The Saunders time period is about 1810 forward and the Coopers 1742 forward. If anyone can tell me where in Virginia Lee A. Saunders was born (abt. 1810) it would be greatly appreciated. He first appears on the Loudoun Personal Tax Lists 1847 (per Pat Duncan).

I can't resist throwing this oddity into the Russell/Baughzel discussion. The 1854 birth records for Russell County, VA lists: Fraley, Baughzel, 07 Jul, WMA, James A. & Margaret Fraley, James A. Fraley-Father Based on naming patterns, possibly Margaret's maiden name was Baughzel. And the name Bawsel appears in Prince William Co. VA around 1800. In our Shenandoah Co, VA Russell family history, we have a wife, Isabel Russell. Many have thought her maiden surname was Baughzel.. pronounced Bazzel or Bazzle. I have long wondered two thoughts about this: 1) Was Baughzel a German surname? 2) Was the name actually Bazzle or Bazzel (Various spellings)? For some time, I looked around the neighborhood for Bazzle families who might have had an Isabell or Isabella. Isabel Nee? Russel would have been born about 1730.. give or take. She and John Russell began having a family, said to have been born in the 1750.. one, Robert Russell gave his birth place as "Frederick Co, VA", 1754. (Pension Aplication / Rev. War) My direct, David Russell, named one of his daughters Mary Baughzel Russell. (Bible Entry made later than her birthdate with spelling by unknown person.) These Russells were surely from Ireland. (Though no record to prove) That is not much. Long ago, vaguely, I think there was a Bazzle in old Frederick Co, VA; but not sure at all now. Nicholas Saunders died around 1801 and his widow, Margaret Warner Saunders died about 1828. I don't have dates for their births or marriage, but Mary, the oldest child, was born in 1778. Nicholas apparently died fairly young. They had 4 daughters and 3 sons. I have a copy of Margaret's will which indicates that the other three daughters married Cooper brothers. Kathe --- "Joyce A.
