Hello All: Lots has happened at Hills and Hollers since my last update notice. Please bear with me as I try to explain. First, I am honored to report that Hills and Hollers, My Mountain Home website has been selected by Appalachian Heritage as the first "Special Site Recognition Award" winner for 2000! I owe all the honors to the folks who have provided information for display and to those who have signed the Guest Register and left me many great ideas. Without you, the site is really boring! Second, I have purchased the domain name of <www.hillsandhollers.net> You can now enter that URL and it will automatically direct you to the website. The domain purchase was an effort to make remembering the site address much easier. Hope that helps, if you have bookmarks using the <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~duncanrw> URL, they will continue to work. You might want to use the <http://www.hillsandhollers.net> URL and update the bookmark. Along with the purchase of the domain name, I have created a new email address for the site. <memorymaker@hillsandhollers.net> You can use it now! As always, my primary email of <navyump@aol.com> will work as well. Third, thanks to some more great contributors, I have added more files on families and more family photos, a cemetery transcription, an old photo of the Glamorgan School, and some more new links to other sites. I have a lot of photos to scan and add. I am working as fast as I can! Also, I am working on finding a search engine plug-in (without advertisements) to help researchers quickly "scan" the site. Since Rootsweb does not have CGI capabilities for the homepages server, I must use a commercially available search engine rather than creating one of my own. I am also searching for another site to store the material that will allow those programming capabilities. I am hoping that everyone out there will get inspired and start searching for material to add to the site. You'd be amazed at what you may have "hiding away" in your possession. My promise to you is that I will never claim ownership of any material you choose to display at Hills and Hollers. It gets posted on your command and will be removed on your command! I will continue to maintain the site as long as it is affordable. My hope is to try to preserve a little bit of our mountain heritage through the stories and pictures. Until next time, thanks for everything!
