Can`t put my hands on an Atlas this p.m. I lived at Exeter when "very" young; a "long" time ago.(about 1945 and 1946. Didn`t think I was related to "anyone" there but now that I have gotten into my genealogy I see connections with several families of that area. S. Engle
There is an Exeter in Wise county, just outside Appalachia. It was an old Stonega Coke and Coal Company town and was close to Osake, Roda, Stonega, Derby which were all coal towns. There is an excellent book on this company and the early life of the coal towns inCOAL TOWNS and it includes drawings of the interiro of the houses and a description of support services like churches, store, schools, etc. I hope this is the same town you are looking for. jim
