According to the book Howards of Southeastern Kentucky by Francis Y. Dunham, Madison Howard's parents were John Covey Howard b.06 Mar 1806 Puckett's Creek, Harlan County, KY d.20 Nov 1899 Wallins Creek, Harlan Co., KY and Mary F. "Polly" Harris born 1825 married in Harlan County, KY 1856. I can't find a mariage record in the Harlan Marriage Records online. John Covey Howard also married Sally Saylor, and Matilda Brock (bef. 1828) Madison Howard was also married to Elizabeth Howard. I will see if I can find out who Matilda Helton married after Madison Howard.
